Steven Shapiro

Steven Shapiro, Ph.D., professor of finance, was a panelist at a National Association of Forensic Economics session on Alex Morgan, et al. vs. the United States Soccer Association at the 2021 Allied Social Science Associations Annual Meeting, held remotely on January 3, 2021. Shapiro and the other panelists discussed the measurement of damages resulting from alleged sex discrimination against the members of the United States Women’s National Team.

Charles Pavia, Ph.D., associate professor, Department of Biomedical Sciences, and Gary P. Wormser of New York Medical College, Valhalla, had their research article, “Passive immunization and its rebirth in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic” published in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents on January 2, 2021.

Lissi Athanasiou-Krikelis, Ph.D., associate professor of English, published a book review on January 1, 2021 of God's Wife by Amanda Michalopoulou. The book review appeared in the Winter issue of World Literature Today.\n

Viswanathan Rajagopalan

NYITCOM-Arkansas

Viswanathan Rajagopalan, Ph.D., associate professor of biomedical sciences at NYITCOM-Arkansas, was elected as a Fellow of the Cardiovascular Section of the American Physiological Society (APS), on March 18, 2021. APS is a community of scientists devoted to expanding knowledge related to biological function, founded in 1887.

Batu Chalise

College of Engineering & Computing Sciences | Electrical & Computer Engineering

Batu K. Chalise, Ph.D., assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, and his postdoctoral research fellow, Sudarshan Guruacharya, have published an article entitled, “MAP Ratio Test Detector for Radar System,” in IEEE Transactions Signal Processing (impact factor 5.230, 2019), vol. 69, 573 - 588, 2021, on December 14, 2020. The research associated with this article was funded by Air Force Research Laboratory.

Wenjia Li

College of Engineering & Computing Sciences | Computer Science

Wenjia Li, Ph.D., associate professor of computer science, published an article entitled “AIT: An AI-enabled Trust Management System for Vehicular Networks Using Blockchain Technology" in IEEE Internet of Things Journal (2020 SCI Impact Factor: 9.936) on December 14, 2020. This research work is co-authored with Chenyue Zhang, a New York Tech master's student he is currently advising, and two other colleagues from universities in China. In this research, the emerging blockchain technology and the deep learning algorithm are both applied to help evaluate the trust of vehicles in a more accurate and efficient manner.

Pejman Sanaei, Ph.D., assistant professor of mathematics, had his paper "Open capillary siphons," published in Fluid Mechanics RAPIDS on December 9, 2020.

Kate E. O'Hara

College of Arts & Sciences Interdisciplinary Studies

Kate E. O’Hara, Ph.D., associate professor of interdisciplinary studies, published her chapter, “Bring Us Back: Photographs for Meaning Making and Knowledge Production,” in the edited volume, Doing Authentic Inquiry to Improve Learning and Teaching, published by Brill Publishing on December 7, 2020. O’Hara’s chapter is narrative style, relating the process and pedagogical methods for engaging students in critical reflection, meaning-making, and knowledge production through the use of visual and textual heuristics.

Mindy Haar

Alex Rothstein, M.S., program coordinator of exercise science, and Mindy Haar, Ph.D., director of academic management for the Department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences, had their research paper titled “Best Practices for Encouraging Student Participation in Both Face-to-Face and Virtual Environments” published in the Journal of Allied Health on December 1, 2020.
