Pablo Lorenzo-Eiroa
School of Architecture and DesignPablo Lorenzo-Eiroa, M.Arch., associate professor of architecture, has published the book Digital Signifiers on an Architecture of Information: From Big Data and Simulation to Artificial Intelligence in May 2023, published by Routledge. This 500-page book contains 20 chapters and covers over 20 years of research on the connection between big data and simulation in order to achieve artificial intelligence emergent programming. It suggests ways to advance the field by identifying challenges related to computational linguistics and visual semiotics in architecture and urbanism. Additionally, the book puts forth the idea of revising architecture history and theories by identifying insights in buildings and urbanism.
Chinmoy Bhattacharjee
PhysicsChinmoy Bhattacharjee, Ph.D., assistant professor of physics, hosted the Long Island Physics Teachers Association meeting on the Long Island campus on May 20, 2023. Teachers held discussion on AP physics exam. Bhattacharjee presented information about the New York Tech Physics, B.S. program to teachers from 10 different school districts on Long Island. The event was featured in the LIPTA Spring 23 newsletter.
Matthias Altwicker
Architecture and DesignMatthias Altwicker, M.U.P., B.Arch., associate professor of architecture, presented a paper, "The Unfamilliar," at the National Conference of the Beginning Design Student in Fargo, N.D., on May 19, 2023. The paper detailed the methodologies and results of 15 years of international workshops run collectively by New York Tech, North Dakota State University, and Fachhochschule Potsdam.
Wei Zeng
College of Engineering & Computing SciencesWei Zeng, Ph.D., assistant professor of mechanical engineering, in collaboration with a team of researchers in the U.S. and China, published an article titled "Modeling of active skeletal muscles: a 3D continuum approach incorporating multiple muscle interactions.'' The paper was published in Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, a peer-reviewed, open-access journal, on May 18, 2023.
Radoslaw Nowak
School of ManagementRadoslaw (Radek) Nowak, Ph.D., associate professor of human resource studies, has published a paper, "How resistance to change impairs innovation," in Emerald Insight's Journal of Strategy and Management on May 9, 2023. The paper explained how employees can derail the process of innovation in their organizations.
Liat Jarkon
College of Osteopathic Medicine, Center for Behavioral HealthLiat Jarkon, D.O., M.P.H., associate professor of family medicine and director of the New York Tech Center for Behavioral Health, wrote a commentary article, "Diversity – We’re not one size fits all," which was published in MDedge Psychiatry on May 9, 2023.
Colleen Kirk
School of Management, Department of Management and MarketingColleen P. Kirk, D.P.S., associate professor of marketing, was interviewed by Quikly about her research on psychological ownership in consumer behavior. The article in which she was quoted, "Why consumers view brands as theirs (according to consumer psychology)," was published on May 9, 2023.

SOMDeborah Y. Cohn, Ph.D., interim dean of the School of Management and professor of marketing, and Joshua E. Bienstock, L.L.M., J.D., associate professor of human resource management, presented "How to Ethically Market Your Firm," at the National Association of Consumer Advocates Spring Training, Business of Consumer Law Track, on May 4, 2023.
Becky Frieden
ITSBecky Frieden, senior director of enterprise applications and decision support systems, conceived and organized the NorthEast Regional Computing Program's (NERCOMP) first Data Day event in Norwood, Mass., on May 3, 2023. The daylong event helped attendees understand data management strategy and gave them the tools to develop such strategies themselves.
Francine Glazer
Academic Affairs / Center for Teaching and LearningFrancine Glazer, Ph.D., associate provost for educational innovation and director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, was a featured expert at a "conversation and dinner" on May 2, 2023, held at Il Buco Alimentari in New York City. The event was sponsored by The Chronicle of Higher Education and Adobe. Glazer spoke about ensuring that students from low-income and underserved communities aren’t hindered by a lack of access to technology.
