NYITCOM-Arkansas

Impactful Medical Education

We’re training physician leaders, patient advocates, and policy influencers to deliver outstanding care in one of the country’s most medically underserved regions.

NYITCOM-Arkansas is more than a medical school. On Arkansas State University’s campus in Jonesboro, you’ll have access to modern facilities, motivated students, and expert faculty mentorship. We are committed to building thriving and resilient communities in the Mississippi Delta region, where health outcomes are among the poorest in the nation. Our programs and proximity to areas with substantial healthcare needs provide an invaluable training experience.

Through community-based outreach, clinical experiences directly serving rural populations, and an integrated certificate in population health, you’ll leave here not just a well-trained physician, but also an agent of change.

Student Voices

Alum Brittany Taylor stands in a lab coat in front of the NYITCOM-Arkansas building.

Even at a young age, I knew that there were real needs in my community, and I was aware of the disparities. My family and neighbors were suffering from a lot of preventable diseases, and I felt the best way I could help people in a meaningful way was to become a doctor.

Research

Students actively engage in research alongside faculty. Through studies funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the American Heart Association, and other organizations, NYITCOM-Arkansas professors explore areas like heart failure, chronic pain, and more.

Outreach

Our students don’t wait until graduation to make an impact. Assist in delivering primary care, preventative screenings, and education through our Delta Care-a-van mobile clinic. Or, help lawmakers craft future legislation that could improve access to care and patient outcomes.
