Your Admitted Student Portal
Check out the Admitted Student Portal to get content related to your major, campus, your next steps, how to register for classes, orientation, and much more. This is also where you will submit your tuition deposit to secure your spot in the class if you haven't already. You will be able to view a personalized list of your next steps in your Admitted Student Portal.

You can also view your next steps below.

Step 1: Confirm Your Enrollment at NYIT

More

Submit your $400 nonrefundable tuition deposit by the deposit deadline, or within two weeks of your acceptance if after the deposit deadline.

Deposit Deadline for Fall: May 1
Deposit Deadline for Spring: December 1

Submit your deposit in your Admitted Student Portal.

Step 2: Set up your my.NYIT Portal

More

Please set up your username and password in the my.NYIT Portal. You can set up your username and password by clicking on "create account/reset password." This will enable you to create your NYIT email account, which will be used for all official NYIT notifications, and access NYITConnect to view, accept, or decline your NYIT scholarship and/or financial aid. You will need this portal activated to register for classes.

Step 3: Submit Your FAFSA

More

To be eligible for merit-based, state, or federal assistance, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The 2018-2019 FAFSA opens on October 1. If you received a scholarship in your acceptance package, you do need to complete the FAFSA in order to receive this scholarship. By completing the FAFSA, you may be eligible for additional financial aid. Once we receive your FAFSA, we will send you a financial assistance package that will be inclusive of all awards you have received.

NYIT's FAFSA school code is 002782. NYIT's state TAP code is 2120. Complete your FAFSA online starting October 1.

Step 4: Visit NYIT

More

Join us for a visit at our New York City or Long Island campus. Schedule a campus tour or check out our calendar of admissions events.

Step 5: Sign Up for a Placement Exam or Advisement Appointment to Register for Courses

More

First, you will receive an email notification when your evaluation is completed. Once this is completed, you will be able to see if you are exempt from a math placement exam.

You may be required to take a placement exam to register for courses. Find out about placement exams and advisement or check your Admitted Student Portal to learn more.

Please note: If you are not receiving college credit for the first English course required for your major, you are required to submit official SAT/ACT scores prior to your exam or appointment. You must have a completed Student Immunization Form before taking placement exams or registering for classes. See Step 6 for more information.

Step 6: Get Your Immunizations

More

New York State requires all students to show proof of immunizations before attending classes. NYIT requires all students to submit their immunization documents prior to registering for classes. Please have your physician complete the Student Immunization Form. Then, submit proof of immunization online prior to your advising appointment or your placement exam. If you are under 18, you MUST have a parent sign the form or you will be unable to register for classes. For more information, please email the Office of Wellness Services at: ows@nyit.edu or call 516.686.3705.

Step 7: Register for Orientation

More

You are required to attend orientation as a new first-year student. This will be your opportunity to learn about student services and campus life, get to know your future classmates, and get ready for college life. Find dates and register for orientation for fall students.

Orientation for spring students will be held in January. You will be contacted when it is time to register.

Step 8: Make Your Housing Arrangements

More

Decide if you would like to live in one of NYIT's full-service residence halls, located a short bus or subway ride away from campus. To live in an NYIT residence hall, please complete a Residential Hall Application, submit a nonrefundable $345 housing deposit, and select your meal plan.

Housing Application for NEW Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 students only. Please use the same email you used to submit your admissions application to log in. Then, click to start a new housing application.

Step 9: Send Your Final, Official Documents

More

You must ensure that final, official college transcripts and official scores (such as APs, IBs, A-levels, etc.) are submitted to the Office of Admissions prior to the start of your first semester. Submit your documents in person or mail them to Office of Admissions, New York Institute of Technology, Northern Boulevard, Old Westbury, NY 11568. NYIT prefers to receive transcripts electronically. Submit your official transcripts through one of several electronic transcripts networks that NYIT participates: National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment Exchange, and eSCRIP-SAFE. If your prior institution does not participate with one of our networks, they may send an electronic transcript directly to NYIT at admissions@nyit.edu.

Step 10: Pay Your Tuition Bill

More

Accept or reject your financial aid and arrange a payment plan through NYITConnect. Learn how to pay your tuition bill.

NOTE: All first-year and transfer students for the fall 2018 semester are required to login and complete Part 1 and Part 2 of AlcoholEdu and Part 1 and Part 2 of Sexual Assault Prevention online education programs. These programs will open on July 30, 2018. Learn more.
