Claude E. Gagna, Ph.D., professor of biological and chemical sciences, published his article, "Otto Warburg versus Molecular Biologists: Who Is Correct About Human Carcinogenesis, and Why Does It Matter to Dermatologists?," concerning a new approach to cancer research, based on the work of the famous biochemist, Otto H. Warburg, and his hypothesis, i.e., the Warburg Effect, in Skinmed on February 3, 2022. The article focuses on how this approach to determine the origins of human cancer, which are still not fully understood, applies to pathologies of human skin.

Venugopal Prabhakar Gantasala, Ph.D., associate professor and M.B.A. program director, Trinh La, and Swapna Bhargavi Gantasala, Ph.D., assistant professor of management, published a research article titled "Influence of motivation on achieving energy sustainability: mediating effects of decision-making" in Environment Systems and Decisions, on February 3, 2022.

Shaya Sheikh, Ph.D., associate professor of quantitative and analytics, published his paper, "An integrated decision support system for multi-target forecasting: A case study of energy load prediction for a solar-powered residential house," in Computers & Industrial Engineering, on February 1, 2022.

Colleen P. Kirk, D.P.S., assistant professor of marketing, was interviewed by Lindsay Keener about her consumer behavior research for her article, "The Science of Simplicity (and Why Your Marketing Needs It)," published on the branding platform Quikly.com, on January 31, 2022.

Jonathan Goldman

Humanities

Jonathan Goldman, Ph.D., professor of English, Department of Humanities, published "The Difficult Odyssey of James Joyce’s ‘Ulysses’," in the Village Voice, on January 31, 2022. The article celebrates the centenary of Joyce's novel Ulysses and specifically the women who helped it reach the public: New Yorkers Margaret Anderson, Jane Heap, Josephine Bell, and Frances Steloff, plus Sylvia Beach, Harriet Shaw Weaver, Josephine Murray, and of course Nora Barnacle. "Their efforts and sacrifices to support, publish, and promulgate Joyce’s work, and the disrespect and other [stuff] they put up with, were essential to the journey of Ulysses from Joyce’s hands into ours."

Radoslaw Nowak

Radoslaw (Radek) Nowak, Ph.D., assistant professor of human resource studies, had his paper, "How Psychological Safety Enables Innovation: The Effects On Potential And Realised Absorptive Capacity," published in World Scientific's International Journal of Innovation Management on January 20, 2022.

Kapil Bajaj

College of Osteopathic Medicine Dean's Office-Jonesboro

Kapil Bajaj, MCTP, director of academic and research technology at NYITCOM-Arkansas, was awarded Fellow status from HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society), on January 14, 2022. This designation indicates professional status and advancement within the HIMSS professional society and is bestowed in recognition of service, professional participation, job experience, publications, and presentations.

William Gati

School of Architecture And Design

William Gati, adjunct associate professor of architecture, received the Educator Award, recognizing notable contributions and accomplishments by\nan architectural educator in New York State, on January 11, 2022.

Steven Shapiro

Management

Steven J. Shapiro, Ph.D., professor of accounting and finance, and Nikanor Volkov, associate professor of finance at Mercer University, presented "Diversification Discounts and the Valuation of Businesses: An Industry Level Approach"\nduring a remote National Association of Forensic Economics Association Session at the Allied Social Science Associations Annual Meeting on January 9, 2022. The presentation by Shapiro and Volkov was based on a working paper that they co-authored with Garrett Smith, associate professor of finance at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Hyun-Tae Jung

School of Architecture and Design

Hyun-Tae Jung, Ph.D., associate professor of architecture, appeared in a special documentary at the beginning of the year titled Seoul, Longing for Multi-layered City, featured on South Korean TV on the Maeil Broadcasting Network, Inc. (MBN), where he discussed the future of contemporary cities including New York and Seoul, on January 3, 2022.
