FAQs for Graduate Students

FAQs for Graduate Students

Each program has different admission requirements, although all require you to submit a copy of your university transcripts and proof of degree. If you are an international student from a non-English speaking country, you will also need to submit the English Proficiency test scores (TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, or DUOLINGO). You may also get an idea of what is required for the program by visiting the Graduate Students Admissions page and selecting the program or programs you are interested in from the “admissions requirements” list. This is updated frequently.

In most cases, your application can be reviewed using the copies of documents you have submitted. For international students, please visit the Graduate Student Admissions page to learn more about country-specific transcript requirements. Remember, any documents you submit are considered copies and once you are accepted, you must submit the final official documents.

For international students, visit the International Graduate Students page to learn more about country-specific requirements.

All application statuses will be updated and released on your application in the Admissions Portal.

For graduate tuition, discounted tuition programs, and special tuition rates at New York Tech, please visit Graduate Tuition and Fees. You will pay tuition based on the number of credits you take each semester. There may be a slight increase in tuition of 4-6% every fall.

The Graduate Scholar Award (GSA) is available to students who have a combined GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale from all prior universities. Students are automatically considered for this scholarship and do not have to do anything additional to apply.

If you are accepted to the Bridge program with a 3.3 or higher CGPA, you are not eligible for the GSA scholarship until you complete the required Bridge program with a 3.3 or higher CGPA. Graduate Admissions will determine if you are eligible to receive the GSA scholarship once you are fully matriculated to the academic program.

If you have been out for only one semester, please contact the Office of the Registrar at registrar@nyit.edu for assistance.

International students who have completed a three-year postsecondary program equivalent to three years of undergraduate study in the United States, or a four-year program that does not meet the equivalency of a U.S. bachelor’s degree, must complete additional assigned undergraduate/graduate Bridge coursework. These Bridge courses must be completed with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students are required to finish the Bridge portion of the program before starting their master’s studies.

If you believe your three-year degree is equivalent to a four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree (which typically requires at least 120 credits) or if you have earned more than 90 credits, we strongly recommend submitting an official Course-by-Course Evaluation of your transcripts. This should include all individual semester mark-sheets and a degree evaluation from a current member of NACES. Once we receive the official evaluation, we will re-review your admission status.

Learn more about the Graduate Admissions requirements. Any questions, please contact the Graduate Admissions Office at grad@nyit.edu for assistance.

Bridge program course tuition rate is based on what level courses your advisor assigned to you. If the courses are undergraduate level, you will be charged with undergraduate level tuition rate. If the courses are graduate level, you will be charged a graduate level tuition rate. Please feel free to check out the academic year tuition and fees page for more information. All Bridge students are charged the college fee as a graduate student.
