Welcome to Fall 2025! Here are some updates and reminders as you embark on a fun and successful semester.
Upcoming Events
- Welcome Week Events (September 3–12): The Office of Student Life will be hosting a series of welcome back programs on the Long Island and New York City campuses, beginning Wednesday morning, September 3, with Grab & Go snacks and swag, and concluding with a Welcome Back Bear Bonanza Casino Night Gala on Friday, September 12. (Buses to and from the Long Island campus will be provided.) Register on CampusGroups.
- Car Free Day Long Island (September 22): Air quality alerts are now a regular part of life on Long Island—but they don’t have to be. Join thousands across the Island and take the pledge to take just one less car trip and become eligible to win great prizes, including a Contend road bike valued at $850, a Hybrid Escape bike valued at $550, and a ten-trip all-access ticket on Long Island Railroad.
- Federal Work Study Days (September 23 in NYC and September 25 on LI): These informative sessions, for those new to the program or those with a current award, will explain how the Federal Work Study program works, how to maximize your award, and how to explore available job opportunities. Come learn the tools for success, plus refreshments and a raffle!
- Fall Garden Tour (September 24): The Grizzly Cupboard and Resource Pantry and the Department of Health Sciences invite you to a Fall Garden Tour on the Long Island campus.
Career Fair
Fall 2025 Career Fair: Work, Intern, Volunteer: Join Career Success and Experiential Education on Friday, September 19, noon – 2 p.m. on our Long Island Campus. Explore diverse experiential opportunities— jobs, internships, and volunteer roles— just in time to secure potential fall, spring, and summer opportunities.
- Limited transportation for New York City students to and from the Long Island campus is being provided. To be guaranteed a seat, you must register for the job fair and also complete a separate bus registration form on Handshake. If you have any questions about transportation, please e-mail Mick Bradley at mick.bradley@nyit.edu
- Prepare for the Fair with a series of Career Fair prep workshops.
Academic Deadlines, Support & Financial Aid
Fall and Cycle A 2025 classes started last Wednesday, September 3. Check your class schedule in the Student Service HUB for the most up-to-date meeting information.
If you would like to add more classes, use Schedule Planner to find a class that fits into your schedule.
- Add/Drop Period:
- The last day to add or drop Cycle A classes was September 9.
- The last day to add or drop Fall semester classes is September 16.
- Withdrawal Period: If you drop a class after the add/drop period ends, there will be a grade of W recorded on your transcript.
- The withdrawal period for Cycle A classes began on September 10.
- The withdrawal period for Fall semester classes starts September 17.
If you plan to graduate in December 2025, you must apply for graduation by Friday, September 26, through the Student Service HUB.

Welcome to the new academic year from the New York Tech Libraries team. We are excited to support you and your research needs in person at the Long Island Libraries (Salten Hall Library and Art and Architecture Library at Education Hall), the New York City Library, AND virtually through the library website. What you need to know:
- Call, email, text, chat, or make an appointment at Ask NYIT Libraries
- Find online library resources, search the catalog for books and articles, and request resources held at other libraries
- Borrow technology
- Tutorials, research guides, and schedule a research consultation through Research Assistance
- Review any Holds and To Do list items in the Student Service HUB to avoid delays in processing of aid or impacts on enrollment.
- Enroll in the Fall Tuition Payment Plan. The deadline for enrollment is September 14. Find out more.
- File the 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at studentaid.gov to receive financial aid, including any scholarship offers you received. You will need to create an FSA ID. Our federal school code is 002782.
- Apply for the NYS Tuition Assistance Program. Undergraduate students who are New York State residents are encouraged to apply for the NYS Tuition Assistance Program at hesc.ny.gov. You will need to create a user ID and PIN. Our TAP school code is 2120.
- Please submit all immunizations before September 17.
- The last day to waive the Aetna Student Health insurance for all full-time domestic students is September 30. Vision benefits have been added to the plan for the first time!

The Student Research Opportunity Center (SROC) engages undergraduate and graduate students in scholarly research, providing opportunities to work with faculty on research and grant projects.
Gain knowledge and experience to support your career goals, while benefiting from experiential learning opportunities, broadening your career aspirations, and impacting research that benefits our community, society, and the world. Student workers may be compensated for their work on these projects.
As we begin our new semester and strive to foster an inclusive environment for all our community members, we would like to remind all students of the university’s Religious Observances and Academic Accommodations Policy regarding students who are unable to attend classes, participate in required course activities, or take scheduled exams because of a religious observance. Update Your Contact Information
It is important to review and update your contact information, so we can quickly inform you of campus emergencies, closings, and other important updates. Campus Safety Services Quick Links may also be a helpful resource for your campus experience.
No day classes are scheduled on Monday, October 13. Evening classes that begin at 5:45 p.m. or later at the Long Island campus or 5:30 p.m. or later at the New York City campus will meet as scheduled.

In addition to quiet study areas available in the campus libraries, students may reserve a study room in Anna Rubin Hall or Field House at the Long Island campus.
New York Tech’s Financial Success and Wellness program has some exciting new workshops and events focusing on topics from learning the basics of budgeting to finding scholarship opportunities to investing, and more! All events are available in CampusGroups, tagged with Financial Success.
- Drive Safely: Students are encouraged to drive safely, on and off campus. Find out how to avoid risky driving behavior.
- LIRR Shuttle: New York Tech is offering free weekday shuttle transportation between the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) Hicksville station and the Long Island campus. To board the shuttle, you will need to present a current and valid New York Tech ID. Seating is prioritized for students. Faculty and staff may ride if there are empty seats after all students have boarded.
- 511NY Rideshare: New York Tech is pleased to participate in 511NY Rideshare at our New York campuses. Sponsored by the New York State Department of Transportation, 511NY Rideshare provides resources and tools to empower commuters to make smart, sustainable travel choices. 511NY Rideshare has resources to help you plan your trips to and from the New York campuses, including maps, transportation advice, and ride, transit, and bike buddy matching programs.
We encourage you to stay connected through the Campus Rec group on CampusGroups, where updates and announcements regarding upcoming activities and events will be shared.
New York City campus: Check out the NYC campus recreation page to learn about a wide range of activities, including, roller-skating, rock climbing, ice skating, borrowing sports equipment, Citi Bike passes, and more.
Long Island campus: We are pleased to offer a range of recreational activities throughout the semester to Long Island campus students, including volleyball, badminton, soccer, and pickleball. Recreation equipment is now available at the Student Activity Center through the new RecRe box vending machine. Learn more at the Long Island campus recreation page.

If you’re getting a new phone, uninstalling your MFA app, or resetting your device, update your MFA settings before making any changes. This helps prevent a call to the Help Desk and being locked out of your New York Tech Resources, such as email and Canvas.
