Student Update

Updated August 21, 2025

Welcome to Fall 2025! Here are some updates and reminders to prepare you for a fun and successful semester.

Upcoming Events

  • Welcome Week Events (September 3-12). The Office of Student Life will be hosting a series of welcome back programs on the Long Island and New York City campuses, beginning Wednesday morning, September 3, with Grab & Go snacks and swag, and concluding with a Welcome Back Bear Bonanza Casino Night Gala on Friday, September 12. (Buses to and from the Long Island campus will be provided.) Register on CampusGroups.
  • Car Free Day Long Island (September 22): Air quality alerts are now a regular part of life on Long Island—but they don’t have to be. Join thousands across the Island and take the pledge to take just one less car trip and become eligible to win great prizes, including a Contend road bike valued at $850, a Hybrid Escape bike valued at $550, and a ten-trip all-access ticket on Long Island Rail Road.

Career Fair

Fall 2025 Career Fair: Work, Intern, Volunteer: Join Career Success and Experiential Education on Friday, September 19, noon – 2 p.m. on our Long Island Campus. Explore diverse experiential opportunities— jobs, internships, and volunteer roles— just in time to secure potential fall, spring, and summer opportunities.

  • Limited transportation for New York City students to and from the Long Island campus is being provided. To be guaranteed a seat, you must register for the job fair and also complete a separate bus registration form on Handshake. If you have any questions about transportation, please e-mail Mick Bradley at mick.bradley@nyit.edu
  • Prepare for the Fair with a series of Career Fair prep workshops.
