NYITCOM offers enrolled medical students onsite mental health services with licensed and clinical social workers and counselors.

Long Island

NYITCOM Counseling and Wellness offers free, confidential, short-term counseling and referral services to enrolled medical students at the Long Island campus.

The NYITCOM Counseling and Wellness office is located on the 3rd floor of the Student Activity Center. The department is currently offering remote services and appointments. We offer daytime and limited evening hours. Our office typically offers appointments: Monday–Thursday 8 a.m.–8 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Jonesboro

The Help Is Here website provides 24/7 mental health resources for students including local hotlines. Help is Here puts vital information and support options at your fingertips and provides potentially life-saving information to NYITCOM students.

Center for Behavioral Health

NYITCOM has a psychiatrist and psychologists available with the Center for Behavioral Health at the Riland Academic Health Care Center (Old Westbury, N.Y.). Students can schedule an appointment with the Center for Behavioral Health by calling the clinical coordinator at 516.686.1274 The Academic Health Care Center accepts most medical insurance plans.

NYITCOM Student Handbook – Mental Health Initiative

The Standard Life, Accidental Death and Disability Insurance Plans provides the following 24/7 confidential services to NYITCOM Students:
  • Telephonic consultation with a Student Assistance Counselor
  • Three free sessions with a local counselor
  • Website with information on wellness and more

Any interested student should contact the Standard EAP by calling 888.293.6948. A counselor will work with the student to assess the initial needs and direct the student to an appropriate, local mental health provider.
