
Commencement Awards
Commencement Awards Committee selects students, faculty members, and an individual to be recognized during the Annual School of Management Awards Ceremony.
Conditions
- Communication with the nominees will be made by committee chair as soon as nominations received
- Nominee and/or nominator should submit all the supporting materials in support of their nomination
- Nominator should propose at most one nominee for a faculty award category
Graduate Student Awards
Graduate Student Award for Academic Achievement in Accounting
Criteria
Conferred upon a graduating student in the MBA (Accounting) Program with the highest GPA in Accounting.
Graduate Student Award for Academic Achievement in Finance
Criteria
Conferred upon a graduating student in the MBA (Finance) Program with the highest GPA in Finance.
New York CPA Society Award
Criteria
Awarded to the student graduating with a high academic average in accounting who shows promise in the public accounting profession.
John J. Theobald Graduate Achievement Award in Human Resource Management and Labor Relations
Criteria
Conferred upon a deserving student in the Master's Program, based on scholarship and outstanding contribution to the college and/or outside community (Only one award may be selected for each Master's Degree).
Anita Messinger Memorial Award
Criteria
Awarded to the woman graduate from the MS in HRM/LR who has shown outstanding ability in leadership, performed willing service and has given promise of professional achievement.
Nassau Civic Club Award
Criteria
Awarded to the graduating student in the MS HRM/LR program who has performed outstanding service to the Center for Human Resource Studies or the Advisory Council.
American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) Award
Criteria
Awarded to the graduating student who has demonstrated the most potential for significant contribution in the field of Human Resource Development.
Center for Human Resource Studies Alumni Council Award
Criteria
Awarded to the graduate who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and achievement in pursuit on the MS HRM/LR degree.
Center for Human Resource Studies Faculty Award
Criteria
Awarded by the faculty to a graduating student who has excelled in the Human Resources Management specialization of the MS HRM/LR or BSBA (HRM) degree program.
Deerson Bienstock Law Club Endowed Award
Criteria
Conferred on an Old Westbury Campus graduating student for excellence in one of the Management Degree programs, who has a sincere desire to pursue a career in law.
Graduate Student Award for Academic Achievement in Marketing
Criteria
Conferred upon a graduating student in the MBA (Marketing) Program with the highest GPA in Marketing.
Graduate Student Award for Academic Achievement in Management
Criteria
Conferred upon a graduating student in the MBA (General Management) Program with the highest GPA in Management.
Graduate Student Award for Academic Achievement in Operations and Supply Chain
Criteria
Conferred upon a graduating student in the MBA (Operations/Supply Chain) Program with the highest GPA in Operations/Supply Chain subjects.
Graduate student award for outstanding service to the academic community
Criteria
Conferred upon a graduating MBA student who has helped the students, department, and the school by engaging voluntarily in various activities.
EMBA Student Award for Excellence
Criteria
Conferred upon a deserving student in the EMBA Program, based on scholastic achievement and contribution to the college community.
NYIT-JUFE MBA Student Award for Excellence
Criteria
Conferred upon a deserving NYIT-JUFE student in the MBA Program of each campus who has achieved excellence in business studies.
John J. Theobald Graduate Outstanding Contributions to New York Tech Award
Criteria
Awarded to a graduating MBA student who contributed the most to the educational experience in the School of Management.
Graduate Student Award in Career Building Platform
Criteria
Conferred upon a graduating MBA student who has demonstrated outstanding performance in the Career Building Platform (CBP).

Society of Hosteurs Club Award
Criteria
Conferred upon a graduate who, as a member of the Society of Hosteurs, has made a significant contribution to the club.
Hospitality Management Faculty Award
Criteria
Conferred by the faculty of the Hospitality Management Program upon a graduate who has demonstrated continuous service, concern, and support of the school, college, and the industry.
Dean's Award for Excellence in Hospitality Management
Criteria
Conferred by the Dean of the School of Management upon a graduate who has demonstrated excellence in academic performance and contributions to the industry and that have brought credit to the student, the program, and New York Tech.
Undergraduate Student Award for Academic Achievement in Management
Criteria
Conferred upon an undergraduate student in the BSBA (MGMT) Program with the highest GPA in Management.
Undergraduate Student Award for Academic Achievement in Marketing
Criteria
Conferred upon an undergraduate student in the BSBA (Marketing) Program with the highest GPA in Marketing.
Undergraduate Student Award for Outstanding Engagement to the Academic Community
Criteria
Conferred upon a graduating BSBA student who has helped the students, department of Management Science and Marketing Studies, and the school by engaging voluntarily in various activities.
BSBA Program Outstanding Contributions to New York Tech Award
Criteria
Awarded to an undergraduate BSBA student who contributed the most to the educational experience in the School of Management.
Undergraduate Student Award in Career Building Platform
Criteria
Conferred upon an undergraduate BSBA student who has demonstrated outstanding performance in the Career Building Platform (CBP).
Terrence Brady Memorial Award
Criteria
Awarded in memory of a former professor and presented to encourage humanitarianism, integrity and professionalism and to acknowledge these traits in a graduating Student from the School of Management.
Faculty Awards
Distinguished SOM Faculty Teaching Award
Criteria
Evidence of impactful or innovative teaching activities made in the last calendar year.
Distinguished SOM Faculty Service Award
Criteria
Evidence of service (above and beyond expectations) in one or more of the following areas made in the last calendar year:
- Helping the students, the staff, and the faculty with various issues
- Active engagement in various SoM and New York Tech wide activities and committees
- Involvement in professional activities
- Consistently volunteering to assist in all areas including admissions, recruitment and retention, and community service
- Other service
Distinguished SOM Faculty Scholarship Award
Criteria
Publications during the last calendar year in high quality journals ranked B or better by Australian Business Deans Council or Chartered Association of Business Schools (UK) or any other equivalent ranking system or grants or industry projects or recognition from national or international organizations; or evidence of the impact of the previous publications.
Retired Faculty Lifetime Achievement Award
Criteria
A retired faculty who has made outstanding contributions to SoM during their tenure at New York Tech and/or after retirement.
Individual Award
Lifetime Achievement Award
Criteria
Contribution to the society and profession, providing job opportunity to the students, working with SoM in Industry projects, engaging with our students, assisting SoM in developing relations with the Industry and the community at large, and helping SoM in advancing its mission.
