School of Architecture & DesignEvan Shieh, M.AUD., assistant professor of architecture, gave a lecture at Zoox HQ, Amazon's robotaxi subsidiary company, on January 29, 2025. Shieh spoke at Zoox's quarterly "CityBeat" lecture series about the spatial impact of driverless technology on the future of cities.
Beth Elenko
Health Professions/Occupational TherapyyOn January 27, 2025, Beth Elenko, Ph.D., associate professor of occupational therapy, was appointed to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Family and Child Health's Bureau of Early Intervention (BEI)'s LEICC - Local Early Intervention Coordinating Council for a two-year period. The LEICC is an advisory council of city agencies, early intervention providers, academics, advocates, and parents to the BEI and meets publicly three to four times per year to inform the BEI on policies and operations. The NYC Commissioner of Health appoints its members.

ManagementShaya Sheikh, Ph.D., associate professor of quantitative and analytics, was quoted on the potential impact of proposed tariffs by the new administration in "Trump’s tariffs will probably hurt your wallet. How much remains a mystery," a January 23, 2025, article in Fortune.
Jonathan Goldman
cas/HUMJonathan Goldman, Ph.D., professor of English, Department of Humanities, contributed a chapter to the volume Elgar Concise Encyclopedia of Law and Literature, edited by Robert Spoo and Simon Stern and published on January 21, 2025. Goldman's chapter, "Trademark," traces the interaction of trademark and branding with the literary culture over the 19th and 20th Centuries.
Alessandro Melis
Architecture and DesignAlessandro Melis, Ph.D., IDC Foundation endowed chair and professor in the School of Architecture and Design, is coauthor of a book, The Dusk of Design. The book, which was also presented at the Auckland University of Technology, explores the intersection of evolutionary theories and architectural design. The book was published on January 14, 2025, by Springer.

School of ManagementColleen P. Kirk, D.P.S., professor of marketing, was quoted in Florida's Freeline Media on January 12, 2025. The article mentioned her research on consumers' psychological ownership and valuation of pets.
Jonathan Goldman
casJonathan Goldman, Ph.D., professor of English, Department of Humanities, gave a presentation at the Modern Languages Association in New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 10, 2025. Goldman's talk, "Joyce the Opposer," was sponsored by the International James Joyce Foundation.

College of Arts & Sciences / HumanitiesAmanda Golden, Ph.D., associate professor of English in the Department of Humanities, presented “Revising the Poems of Sylvia Plath” at the Modern Language Association Convention, held in New Orleans, La., January 9–11, 2025. At the conference, she also served as a mentor for early career scholars.\n

School of Architecture and DesignDongsei Kim, M.Des., associate professor of architecture, collaborated with Dongwoo Yim from Hongik University , and co-organized and presented at the Tikitaka Conversation online Instagram event titled “So What” on January 8, 2025.
Alessandro Melis
Alessandro Melis, Ph.D., IDC Foundation endowed chair and professor in the School of Architecture and Design, Has published a paper, ""GENERATIVE AI AND COMPLEXITY: Towards a new paradigm in regenerative digital design," in the December 30, 2024, issue of AGATHÓN – International Journal of Architecture, Art and Design. The article deals with the synthesis of artificial intelligence, deep learning, and parametric design in regenerative digital design, used to significantly reshape the pre-design phase in climate scenarios.
