Colleen Kirk

School of Management

Colleen P. Kirk, D.P.S., professor of marketing, has published a chapter titled "The World Is My Oyster: Consumers' Psychological Ownership in a Spatial Computing Era" in a The Routledge Handbook of Identity and Consumption, published by the Routledge imprint of the Taylor & Francis Group on April 14, 2025. Coauthored with Laura Rifkin, the chapter investigates how spatial computing technologies, such as Apple's Vision Pro, promote psychological ownership by enabling consumers to feel greater control and personal connection to virtual environments.

Evan Shieh

School of Architecture and Design

Evan Shieh, M.AUD., assistant professor of architecture, gave a public book talk lecture hosted by Open Plans, an organization dedicated to transforming New York City streets through policy and advocacy. The lecture was held at Cookfox Architects on April 9, 2025.

Millie Gonzalez

Libraries

Millie Gonzalez has been elected to the Association of College and Research Libraries Board of Directors as councilor to serve a three-year term. The election results were announced on April 7, 2025.

Bernadette Riley

College of Osteopathic Medicine

Bernadette Riley, D.O., associate professor of family medicine and director of the New York Tech Ehlers Danlos Center, was elected assistant secretary of the Medical Society of the State of New York on April 7, 2025. The Medical Society of the State of New York is the state’s primary professional organization for physicians.

Cameka Hazel

College of Arts and Sciences

Cameka Hazel, Ed.D., assistant professor of psychology and counseling in the College of Arts and Sciences, led and offered the welcoming address at the ACA-NY Annual Conference, The Use of AI in Counseling, on April 5, 2025, at Molloy University in Rockville Centre, N.Y.

Alessandro Melis

School of Architecture and Design

Alessandro Melis, Ph.D., IDC Foundation endowed chair and professor in the School of Architecture and Design, served as co-curator and co-director of Metamorphosis, the National Italian Festival of Architecture, which opened on April 3, 2025, with events held in several Italian and global locations. Maria Perbellini, Ph.D., dean of the School of Architecture and Design, was a member of the festival's steering committee.

Alessandro Melis, Ph.D., IDC Foundation endowed chair and professor in the School of Architecture and Design, was interviewed by Jesus D'Alessandro, director of the UNIBE School of Architecture, for a lecture series hosted by the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE), Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The interview, part of the UNIBE Talks series, was held on March 27, 2025.

Evan Shieh, M.AUD., assistant professor of architecture, gave a lecture at the New York City Department of City Planning (DCP) Urban Design Division on March 27, 2025. Shieh spoke at DCP's monthly "BUDS" lecture series about the impact of driverless vehicles on city planning and transportation policy.

Alessandro Melis

School of Architecture and Design

Alessandro Melis, Ph.D., IDC Foundation endowed chair and professor in the School of Architecture and Design, presented a seminar at an online meeting of the American Institute of Architects New York State on March 25, 2025. The presentation, We Are Out of Time: Transformative Regeneration for a Sustainable Future, addressed the urgent need for architects to adopt transformative practices in response to the global environmental crisis.

Alessandro Melis, Ph.D., IDC Foundation endowed chair and professor in the School of Architecture and Design, has been invited to be part of the Scientific Committee and the Jury of The "Dedalo Minosse International Prize". The Prize would boost the quality of architecture by looking at the final result, analysing and focusing on the project and constructive plan process, and giving special attention to people who determine the success of the work: the architect and the client, supported by the project executors and the public administrations.
