Pejman Sanaei, Ph.D., assistant professor of mathematics, in collaboration with members of New Jersey Institute of Technology had a research paper “On the influence of pore connectivity on performance of membrane filters,” published by Cambridge University Press on September 3, 2020

Jordan Thompson

Legal Legal General Counsel's Office

Jordan Thompson, deputy general counsel, was elected President of the Huntington Lawyers' Club (HLC) on September 1, 2020. The Huntington Lawyer’s Club was founded in 1934 and is comprised of attorneys and judges living and/or working in the Township of Huntington. The purpose of HLC is to bring together a community of lawyers to further socialization, legal education, and networking.

Yusui Chen

College of Arts & Sciences College of Arts & Sciences Physics Yusui Chen, Ph.D., assistant professor of physics, had his research paper, “Quantumness protection for open systems in a double-layer environment,” published in the Journal of Science China Physics, Mechanics & Astronomy on May 1, 2020. This work provides a proposal to protect the quantumness of open systems in the framework of a double-layer noisy environment.

Kevin LaGrandeur

Kevin LaGrandeur, Ph.D., professor of English, was interviewed for a podcast hosted by Posthumans.org on August 31, 2020. He spoke about his most recent book, Surviving the Machine Age.

Rajendram Rajnarayanan

College of Osteopathic Medicine College of Osteopathic Medicine Research-Jonesboro

Rajendram Rajnarayanan, M.SC., Ph.D., assistant dean of research and associate professor of biomedical sciences at NYITCOM-Arkansas, was interviewed by Wendi Li for an article, “How one Society Advocate created a summer research program” for the Society for Science & and the Public, published on August 26, 2020. The article described how Rajnarayanan in his role as a Society Advocate, created a paid summer internship program as a way to allow high school students to support their families while giving them an opportunity to gain laboratory exposure. \n\n

Susana Case

College of Arts & Sciences College of Arts & Sciences Behavioral Sciences

Susana Case, Ph.D., professor of behavioral sciences, won a Pinnacle Book Award for Best Poetry Book, Summer 2020, on August 20, 2020, for Dead Shark on the N Train, published by Broadstone Books.

Sophia Domokos

College of Arts & Sciences College of Arts & Sciences Physics

Sophia Domokos, Ph.D., assistant professor of physics, received a National Science Foundation Award for her proposal, "RUI: Solitons in Holography," on August 18, 2020, for research in an area of string theory called holographic duality. The three-year grant, which runs from September 1, 2020, through August 31, 2023, has a total intended award amount of $120,000. Kevin Park, M.F.A., assistant professor of digital arts and design, is a co-investigator on the grant and will work with Domokos to produce engaging visualizations of her work.

Jamel Vanderburg, adjunct instructor of interdisciplinary studies, was mentioned in the 2020 Young People For Alumni Report, published on August 12, 2020, for his civic engagement work with students at New York Tech.

Babak D. Beheshti, Ph.D., dean of NYIT College of Engineering and Computing Sciences, was quoted in the story "Imagining the Newsroom of Tomorrow," published in The Washington Post on August 7, 2020. The story discussed how 5G could reshape the future of journalism.

Claude Gagna

College of Arts & Sciences Biological & Chemical Sciences

Claude E. Gagna, Ph.D., professor of biological and chemical sciences, was elected as a Fellow into The Royal Society of Chemistry on August 5, 2020.
