Deborah Cohn
School of ManagementDeborah Y. Cohn, Ph.D., professor of management and marketing studies, Birasnav Muthuraj, Ph.D., assistant professor of management and marketing studies, and Joshua E. Bienstock, L.L.M., J.D., associate professor of human resource management, were awarded a 2020 Fulbright-Hays Program Grant on September 28, 2020, for their proposal, “Academia and Society - Collaboration Across Borders: A Virtual Exchange Program,” by the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Consulate of São Paulo, Brazil. The program, a collaboration with Associação Cultural De Renovação Tecnológica Sorocabana - Acrts, Facens - Faculty of Engineering of Sorocaba, will partially fund a two-semester (spring 2021 and fall 2021) virtual cultural exchange program. The grant, one of four out of fifty that have been funded, will divide $13,966 between Facens ($5,475) and New York Tech ($8,521). Rosi Vieira and Noemi Fontao are the program leaders from Facens.

Beheshti addressed the role of education in this race.

Vera Manzi-Schacht, M.F.A., adjunct professor of digital art and design, exhibited her terracotta sculpture, “Liberata,” at the Denise Bibro Fine Arts Gallery in New York City, as part of the Canvassing the Boros 2020 exhibition, September 24 – October 10, 2020.

This event was hosted by Long Island Press and sponsored by LISTnet.

Beheshti, Ph.D., dean of NYIT College of Engineering and Computing Sciences, was quoted in a story on Vox.com, “We're closer to holographic meetings than you think,” on September 15, 2020. In the story, he speaks about how due to the pandemic, businesses can utilize AR and VR experiences to make the remote working and learning experience feel more like reality. It is also about the role of 5G as these technologies become more accessible and popular.

College of Engineering & Computing Sciences College of Engineering & Computing Sciences Electrical & Computer EngineeringAhmadreza Baghaie, Ph.D., assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering, had his paper, "Towards multi‐modal data fusion for super‐resolution and denoising of 4D‐Flow MRI," published in the International Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering on September 7, 2020. This research was done in collaboration with researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Medical College of Wisconsin for denoising and super-resolution of in-vivo 4D Flow MRI data by means of Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) and Dynamic Mode Decomposition in patients with a brain aneurysm.

College of Arts and SciencesLynn Rogoff, M.F.A., adjunct associate professor of English, had her play, Love, Ben Love, Emma, presented online by the Wayward Sisters Theatre from September 5 - October 10, 2020. The play centers around the legendary Emma Goldman and and her relationship with Dr. Ben Reitman.
