College of Arts & Sciences Communication ArtsJohn Hanc, M.A., associate professor of communication arts, had his article, "You Can't Be Afraid of the Tech," published in The New York Times on February 28, 2018. The article, which was featured in a special Retirement section, focused on older adults who had found second careers in tech-related jobs.
Frances Campani
School of Architecture & Design ArchitectureFrances Campani, M.Arch., associate professor of architecture, and Jon Michael Schwarting, M.Arch., professor of architecture, delivered a lecture on the Aluminaire House Project at the Palm Springs Museum of Art, Palm Springs, CA, on February 23, 2018. The lecture was part of the annual Modernism Week series of lectures and events. A related article, "First American Project by Desert Modernism Architect to be Rebuilt in Palm Springs," published on February 23 on Smithsonian.com, cites an article from NYIT Magazine, Modern Artifact: The Story of Aluminaire House," and the work of Campani and Schwarting.

School of Engineering & Computing Sciences Telecomm & Electrical Engineering TechnologyBabak D. Beheshti, Ph.D., professor and associate dean of NYIT School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, moderated a panel discussion, "Smart Cities and the Internet of Things," at the City & State's 2018 Digital NY Summit & Awards conference on February 22, 2018. The panel included Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, NYC Councilman Rodriguez, NYC Department of Transportation CTO Cordell Schacter, Benjamin (Britt) Harter, director of state and local government practice at PWC, and Joe Fasone, founder and CEO of Pilot. The conference is a day-long program of thought-provoking presentations and candid discussions featuring New York's information leaders from government and industry.
Daniel Cinotti
College of Arts & Sciences Masters School CounselingDaniel Cinotti, Ph.D., assistant professor of school counseling, was part of a research team that published the article "Collecting School Counseling Group Work Data: Initiating Consensual Qualitative Research Through Practitioner-Researcher Partnerships" in The Journal for Specialists in Group Work on February 16. The article describes the use of an innovative research methodology called "Consensual Qualitative Research" or "CQR" to explore the experiences of interns conducting group counseling in schools. The project was funded by a grant from the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.
Janet Walsh
School of Management ManagementJanet Walsh, D.B.A., adjunct professor of management, presented her research paper, "\nThe 2018 IHRM conference in Madrid brings together a distinguished national and international community of HR scholars and practitioners, with the following aims:\ndisseminate and discuss the latest research in HR\nshare insights on how to put research into practice\nexpand the existing community of practice in the HR field\nexplore new international research and business collaborations\n\nDr. Walsh will present her research findings on "Human Resource Implications for Cuba Market Entry." Her paper and presentation will include an examination of the way human resources contributes to Cuba market entry.\n\n

School of Management MarketingDeborah Y. Cohn, Ph.D., associate professor of marketing, was awarded a grant from the Center for Positive Marketing and the ANA (Association of National Advertisers) Educational Foundation on February 8, 2018, for her proposal, “Millennial Skepticism: Can Purpose-Driven Marketing Backfire,” delivered at the 2018 Conference for Positive Marketing by Cohn, Richard Handler (University of Virginia), and Yuliya Komarova (Fordham University).
Joanne Scillitoe
School of ManagementJoanne Scillitoe, Ph.D., associate professor of management, has received a Fulbright Senior Scholar award to spend the Spring 2019 semester at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. The award, which was confirmed on February 8, 2018, will allow her to teach at the university and to study the development process of socio-technological entrepreneurial ventures in Madrid and beyond.

College of Arts & Sciences Behavioral SciencesSusana Case, Ph.D., professor of behavioral sciences, had selections from her recent book, Drugstore Blue, translated into Italian by Caterina Roversi and published in the Italian literary magazine clanDestino Rivista on February 7, 2018.

College of Arts & Sciences EnglishKevin LaGrandeur, Ph.D., professor of English, contributed a chapter, “Art and the Posthuman,” to the book Posthumanism: The Future of Homo Sapiens, edited by Michael Bess and Diana Walsh Pasulka, and published by Macmillan Reference USA in January 2018.
Naomi Frangos
School of Architecture & Design ArchitectureNaomi Frangos, M.Arch., associate professor of architecture, has won acclaim for her work on the 300,000 sq.ft., $107 million contemporary dance complex, Le Wilder ESPACE DANSE in Montreal. The complex was reviewed by David Theodore, Ph.D., in his article, “Dancing up a Form,” published on January 25, 2018, in Canadian Architect. Frangos was design architect at Lapointe Magne + Associates for the project, which was nominated for the 2017 Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize and has received extensive appraisal in the media through numerous publications in local newspapers.
