After working for six years in residence life at other universities, Will Golder joined New York Tech’s Student Life team to help bring athletics back to campus.

In this role, he is overseeing this development as part of the Campus Recreation program, leading the growth of club sports, intramural sports, and recreational programming on the Long Island campus. He is launching opportunities for students to compete in basketball, volleyball, badminton, soccer, flag football, and tennis, while working to expand future offerings based on student interest. He is passionate about creating an inclusive campus community where students can build friendships, develop leadership skills, and stay active through recreation. New York Tech’s long-term vision is to help re-establish a strong athletic culture by creating meaningful opportunities for students to connect and represent the university through competition.

Will grew up on Long Island and graduated from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y., where he studied special education and history. He spent four years competing as a Division II athlete as a thrower on the Track & Field team. Afterwards, he took up coaching as well as rugby playing. He coached both high school and collegiate track as well as high school football in Albany before moving to Colorado for three years playing rugby across seven states.

He continues to be active in sports, including playing rugby, and is coaching football for his high school alma mater.
