Transfer Your Credits

NYIT offers a generous transfer credit acceptance policy, including not only college courses taken at comparable institutions, but also prior learning and life experience, and advanced placement and college courses taken while in high school. Upon enrollment, our Transfer Evaluations department will review your transcripts and prepare a personalized, course-by-course evaluation of credits applicable to your major.

Articulation Agreements and Plans of Study

We have worked closely with many regional community colleges to map out the coursework you need to complete for a smooth transition to comparable bachelor's degree programs at NYIT. The following Articulation Agreements map out the courses that will transfer to NYIT from your prior college. In some cases, we provide a “Plan of Study” that is not yet finalized into a formal Articulation Agreement, and therefore is subject to change, but can be used as a tool in a similar manner.

College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Exams

To receive credit, you must meet the following requirements:

  • AP exam score of 3, 4, and 5 are required for possible credit.
  • AP credit is applicable to your  program of study at NYIT. View NYIT’s Advanced Placement (AP) equivalencies to find out how many credits you may earn. For the combined health professions programs in Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Occupational Therapy, as well as the Nursing program, grades of 4 or 5 are required for possible credit for courses identified as prerequisites. Students admitted to the B.S./D.O. program are not eligible for IB credit.
  • Request your transcript from the International Baccalaureate Organization to be sent to NYIT.

College Coursework Completed While in High School

College coursework completed during high school is eligible for consideration of transfer credit so that you can get even further ahead in your degree. If you took college courses on a college campus or in your high school under a sponsoring college, check out our standard transfer credit criteria in the NYIT Catalog and see if those classes fall under our guidelines.

If so, request for the official transcript of the course(s) to be sent to the Office of Admissions from the associated college. Make sure the transcript reflects the course, credit, and grade earned so that the class can be accurately considered for transfer credit.

NYIT prefers to receive transcripts electronically. Submit your official transcripts through one of several electronic transcripts networks that NYIT participates: National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment Exchange, and eSCRIP-SAFE. If your prior institution does not participate with one of our networks, they may send an electronic transcript directly to NYIT at admissions@nyit.edu.

If you have further questions, contact the Transfer Evaluations team at evaluations@nyit.edu.
