Interior Environments II Gallery

This is the second course in the Interior Design sequence and is the first course in the upper division Interior Design studios that explore specific Building and Program Types. While the first course is built around Perception and exposure to the abstract Notion of Space and the elements that conspire to delineate space; students in the second semester take this new-found awareness and skill-set and apply them to an actual design program. The building/program type for this second semester is residential and small retail. Students are given specific square-foot requirements and actual/or hypothetical site location and they are asked to design a solution, based within the consolidated phases of an architectural design project and conventional architectural notations and methods of representation. Students are now exposed to methods of Building Analysis and Research including investigating precedent; deciphering a program; space-planning methodology, that together will inform their subsequent design explorations.
