Profile of Paul Byrne

Paul Byrne

Postdoctoral Fellow; Anatomy

Education Credentials: Ph.D.

Expertise: Vertebrate Paleontology, Evolutionary Development

Joined New York Tech: 2025

I am interested in the functional, developmental, cellular, and evolutionary dynamics of various interactions between tissues in extinct and extant vertebrates. My research focuses on the cardiopulmonary, neuroanatomical, and musculoskeletal systems. Using primarily archosaurian reptiles as models, I not only apply my work to inform clinically relevant challenges in human health, but also to address how changes in physiology may have influenced the ecology and extinction of vertebrates in past and present ecosystems.
