Before joining New York Tech, Amanda Golden held a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Georgia Institute of Technology and an NEH Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Poetics at Emory University’s Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry. She received her Ph.D. in English from the University of Washington and her B.A. in English from Colgate University.

Golden co-edited The Poems of Sylvia Plath (Faber & Faber, 2026), a new, annotated, scholarly edition of Sylvia Plath’s Collected Poems with Karen V. Kukil. This project was supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Faber & Faber calls the volume “a landmark publication: the definitive edition of the poet’s work for scholars, students and general readers.” The book contains over 500 poems, nearly twice the number in the Collected Poems (1981), and extensive notes.

Golden is the author of Annotating Modernism: Marginalia and Pedagogy from Virginia Woolf to the Confessional Poets (Routledge, 2020), co-editor of The Bloomsbury Handbook to Sylvia Plath (2022), with Anita Helle and Maeve O’Brien, and editor of This Business of Words: Reassessing Anne Sexton (UPF, 2016). She also published “Anne Sexton” (2024), a bibliography for Oxford University Press, with Linda Wagner-Martin.

Golden previously edited a peer-reviewed cluster on Feminist Modernist Digital Humanities for the journal Feminist Modernist Studies and has published in Modernism/modernityWoolf Studies Annual, and The Ted Hughes Society Journal.

In October of 2026, Golden will become President of the Modernist Studies Association, a leading, international, interdisciplinary organization. She is currently Vice President and co-organized the Brooklyn Conference in 2023. From 2021–3, she was Vice President of the International Virginia Woolf Society. Golden is a member of Editorial and Advisory Boards for the journals Textual Cultures and Woolf Studies Annual, Bloomsbury Academic’s Modernist Archives Series, the Modernist Archives Publishing Project (MAPP), Modernist Networks (ModNets), and the Orlando Project. From 2015–20, she served on the Modern Language Association’s Executive Committee for the Forum on Bibliography and Scholarly Editing, and represented the Forum on the Delegate Assembly from 2020-2.
