BRIIC Leadership
Biomedical Research, Innovation, and Imaging Center
Message from the Scientific Director
The Biomedical Research, Innovation, and Imaging Center (BRIIC) is a beacon for biomedical research, uniquely positioning New York Tech as a leader in the integration of cutting-edge technology with the principles of osteopathic medicine.

The BRIIC represents a hub for interdisciplinary research with a vision that goes beyond those of mainstream, established research institutions. It seeks to develop new models for biomedical research and education through interdisciplinary research. This facility houses cutting-edge research equipment, including a functional MRI (3T MRI with fMRI capability) for human research, complementing existing imaging equipment that includes some of the most advanced optical microscopes in the world.
We look forward to learning about the work of our brilliant scientists, who will be able to deepen and expand their pursuit of life-changing research, while bolstering inquisitive students across all of New York Tech’s schools and colleges. Benefiting both the next generation of doers, makers, innovators, and healers and the local economy and medical landscape.
Randy F. Stout, Jr., Ph.D.
Scientific Director, BRIIC
From The Leadership

Hank Foley, Ph.D.
President
“The BRIIC will fill a need for high-resolution microscopy in the Long Island region, thereby creating the opportunity to invite researchers from other institutions to utilize our advanced visualization technologies. At the same time, while the BRIIC will centralize our research instruments, it will also propel New York Tech’s research into the future.”

Jerry Balentine, D.O., FACEP, FACOEP
Provost and Executive Vice President
“For the students, working with industry partners gives them the experience of seeing what the real world looks like, and how it feels to work in a certain industry or role. For the university, it can mean great name recognition by partnering with major companies, excitement for faculty in staying connected to the latest in industry, and even higher student retention.”

Jared E. Littman, Ph.D.
Vice Provost for Research
“By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and providing state-of-the-art resources, the BRIIC will significantly expand our research capacity and impact, taking a bold step towards our goal of achieving R2 research status at New York Tech.”

Nicole Wadsworth, D.O., FACEOEP, FACEP
Dean, College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) and Interim Dean, School of Health Professions
“The impact of the BRIIC will be profound and far-reaching, serving as a catalyst for student engagement in both research and industry, driving groundbreaking discoveries and knowledge creation for faculty, and establishing itself as a central hub for innovation and collaboration for the institution and in the Long Island region.”

Babak D. Beheshti, Ph.D.
Dean, College of Engineering and Computing Sciences
“The BRIIC will provide a robust ecosystem for the researchers, industry partners, and our students to innovate and push the boundaries of science and technology. Collaborating with industry leaders not only prepares students for dynamic careers but also strengthens the university’s reputation as a hub of innovation.”
