Exploring Design in Architecture, Interior Design & Digital Arts

Learn about digital design practice and explore the history, theory, and future of design across the fields of architecture, interior design, and digital art in one of the world’s most iconic cities.

Our three-week Summer Design Academy program introduces you to state-of-the-art professional methods and technologies, preparing you for a dynamic future at college and in your career. Enjoy full access to New York Tech’s professional design facilities, including an open studio with a view of Central Park, as well as computer labs, model fabrication shops, CAD and other technology tools, and more.

  • Learn how to use artificial intelligence with digital design, integrating software and fabrication hardware to create drawings, objects, models, prototypes, renderings, gaming, animation, and videos.
  • Gain intellectual critical thinking, making, and visualization skills through college-level presentations, discussions, and mentorship.
  • Visit design museums and professional offices and studios.
  • Think, experiment, and imagine through making within the context of digital fabrication and creative technology.

Program Details

The three-week Summer Design Academy program is divided into two parts. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive up to three college credits, applicable as transfer credit to New York Tech School of Architecture and Design.

Part One

Students gain hands-on experience with a wide range of methodologies and workflows in the field of digital design and fabrication. Design Studio and Fab Lab sessions are paired with lectures, providing technical and theoretical context to your projects.

Part Two

Students work in small collaborative groups, gaining an in-depth understanding of multiple techniques, materials, and geometries, translating projects into full-scale fabricated elements and assemblies.

Program Details

  • Dates: July 7–25
  • Time: Monday–Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Lunch will be provided.)
  • Location: New York Tech – New York City campus at 1855 Broadway

Note: Housing is not available during the summer sessions.

Join Us!

Students from all academic fields are welcome and encouraged to apply. Prospective students need not be currently enrolled in an academic institution. Some practical knowledge of digital design and 3-D modeling software is useful but not required.

In addition to the application form, parents must complete and return all the following required forms before the June 21 registration/payment deadline to finalize the application:

Registration is on a rolling basis. Space is limited, so please submit your application as early as possible. Applicants accepted to the program will be notified beginning in mid-May.

  • Application Deadline: June 15
  • Registration/Payment Deadline: June 21

  • Program Tuition: $4,300. The cost of basic fabrication materials is included in tuition.
  • Application Fee: $40
  • Payment due: Due in full upon acceptance.
