3D Printing

3-D printing is an additive manufacturing process of making three-dimensional objects from digital files. Models are created by adding one layer at a time either by depositing melted plastic, nylon or UV curing liquid resin. The fabrication lab has three different printers capable of printing a range of parts from basic geometry for quick study models, joints and movable parts, complex geometries for final models and molds for casting.

Student Use

• To use the lab’s Ultimaker 3D Printers, students must first submit the file to the 3D Printing Queue, then go into the lab in person to have a student worker check and process the file.
• Files will be processed and run on a first come, first served basis.
• Last call to start prints is 4:30pm M-F
• Make sure to review the latest Process / Standards information on the Resource Page
• Submit files to the Job Queue in the following format(s): .3dm (Rhino 7)
• To use the lab’s other 3D Printers, students must come into the lab with a file to be reviewed by lab staff

These 3D printers may be operated only by trained personnel and used solely for academic projects. Unauthorized use will result in suspension of privileges. You may not submit files to the 3D printers until you have read and agreed to all notices and guidelines.
