School of Architecture & DesignEvan Shieh, M.AUD., assistant professor of architecture, received New York Tech 2023 Presidential Excellence in Teaching Award for part time faculty at 2023 Convocation on August 31. The award recognizes a faculty member who has demonstrated a consistent dedication to teaching and to their students judged by quality of teaching and impact on student success and student learning.

College of Arts and Sciences/ Counseling and Psychology Dept.Cameka Hazel, Ed.D., assistant professor in the psychology and counseling department, shared her expert knowledge concerning bullying in schools in a recently published article, "Do schools do enough to prevent bullying?" on the Care.com website on August 31, 2023.
Wenyao Hu
School of ManagementWenyao Hu, Ph.D., assistant professor of School of Management, published an article "Overselling corporate social responsibility" in Financial Management (ABDC ranking: A) on August 30, 2023. In the paper, Hu shows that firms hype up their corporate social responsibility narratives during the turn-of-the-year earnings conference calls to project an overly responsible public image of their firms.

College of Engineering and Computing SciencesBatu Chalise, Ph.D., associate professor of electrical and computer engineering, has been appointed as an associate editor in radar systems for an academic journal, IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, on August 25, 2023.
Rozina Vavetsi
SoAD, Digital Arts and DesignRozina Vavetsi, M.SC., associate professor and chair of the Department of Digital Art and Design, received the Graphis Silver Award in August 2023 for the poster "Celebrating 20 Years of SOURCE." Graphis publishes the world’s most prestigious annual volumes with award-winning work from international talents in design, advertising, art/Illustration, photography, and more. The Graphis Institute is dedicated to promoting and celebrating the most compelling work and has the most significant collection of creative excellence worldwide.

Development, Alumni Relations and External AffairsEva Pearson, associate director of external affairs, was honored by Schneps Media as one of the "Power Women of the East End," honoree on August 3, 2023 at the Muses in Southampton, NY.

School of Health Professions/ Occupational TherapyBeth Elenko, Ph.D., associate professor of occupational therapy, along with Alexa Georgeton, OTD, Kavita Gera, OTD, and Nicole Maguire, OTD, published an article in American Occupational Therapy Association on August 1, 2023 entitled "Reinforcing family-centered early intervention best practice throughout the pandemic," a discussion of coaching practices in birth to three OT practices that were solidified during the pandemic and need to continue post-pandemic. It is a case study based on a qualitative interview study with families of children in early intervention, which examines their perspectives and experiences with the coaching method.

School of Architecture and DesignEvan Shieh, M.AUD., assistant professor of architecture, with Rahul Mehrotra of Harvard University, has edited and published Extreme Urbanism V: Exploring Hybrid Housing Typologies, on August 1, 2023. With design contributions from Harvard Graduate School of Design students, the publication explores strategies for the post-industrial transformation of Mumbai’s contested Eastern Waterfront.
