Dong-Sei Kim
School of Architecture and Design, Department of Architecture.Dongsei Kim, M.Des., assistant professor of architecture, presented his recent publication "Drawing Hwa-Chaeng: Mapping Contested Territories for Imagination" at the Korea Society in New York on November 17, 2023. He then joined a conversation moderated by curator Jean Im with Dongwoo Yim (PRAUD/Hongik University), who presented his "Accessories" publication within the Tiki-Taka Collective.
Cameka Hazel
College of Arts and Sciences/ Counseling and Psychology Dept.Cameka Hazel, Ed.D., assistant professor in the psychology and counseling department, recently published a research article entitled "Multicultural Counseling Course Instructors Background and Diversity Teaching Approaches" in the Journal of Counselor Preparation and Supervision on November 17, 2023.
Amerigo Rossi
Interdisciplinary Health StudiesAmerigo Rossi, Ed.D., associate professor of interdisciplinary health sciences, and Lillian Butungi Niwagaba, Ph.D., assistant professor and director of the Center for Global Health, mentored New York Tech students in publishing an abstract, "Physical Activity Assessment of People with Type II Diabetes in the Dominican Republic," in The International Journal of Exercise Science Conference Proceedings, on February 1, 2023. The students traveled to NYU Langone Health’s academic medical center in New York, N.Y., on November 11 to present their scholarly research at the Greater New York Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine’s 2023 Annual Fall Meeting. This research won the President's Cup Award at the conference.
Monika Rohde
Undergraduate Student Success and AdvisingStaff from both Undergraduate Student Success and Advising as well as Student Engagement and Development represented New York Tech at the 2023 Annual LICSPA Annual Conference (Long Island Council of Student Personnel Administrators), held on November 9. Madeline Leonard, assistant director of academic success and enrichment, served as conference chair and led the organization of the entire event. Nicole Sheehan, director of academic advising, received the Individual Excellence Award. Joanne West, director of student engagement and development admin and operations, received the LICSPA Founders Award. Stephanie Wolcott, senior academic advisor, presented a session titled "Igniting Creativity: Unlock ChatGPT's Potential in Brainstorming." Tyler Wheelock, senior academic advisor, presented a session titled "Advising Across Borders: Fostering Success for International Students through Campus Collaboration." Tiffani Hinds, associate provost for student engagement and development, served on a panel discussion featuring vice presidents of student affairs.
Cecilia Dong
Electrical and Computer EngineeringZiqian (Cecilia) Dong, Ph.D., professor of electrical and computer engineering, presented two studies on November 6, 2023, at the 2023 IEEE 35th International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence. One, "PEAK: Policy Event Assessment of COVID-19 Cases at the Start of the Pandemic in New York City," proposes a policy event impact assessment framework (PEAK) that quantifies the impact of policies and events on COVID-19 incidence. The second, "DICE: Data Imputation for Cost Estimates from Multiple Sources to Model User Decision-Making," tackles the incomplete data problem in transportation surveys and proposes data imputation for cost estimates (DICE) scheme to synthesize data from multiple sources to impute the missing data.
Becky Frieden
ITSBecky Frieden, senior director of enterprise applications and decision support systems, hosted a webinar on October 31, 2023, titled "Enter If You Dare: Data Governance Can Give You a Scare". She discussed the necessary steps and potential pitfalls of establishing and executing a comprehensive data governance program.

casJonathan Goldman, Ph.D., professor of English, is a member of Modernist Studies Association, where he moderated the plenary roundtable, "Night Life/ Street Life," at the 2023 Modernist Studies Association Conference on October 28, 2023. At the same conference, he presented a paper titled "The Sheik of Amerikay: Whiteness in The Great Gatsby."
Colleen Kirk
School of ManagementColleen P. Kirk, D.P.S., associate professor of marketing, served as a panelist at a special roundtable session addressing the sharing economy at the Association for Consumer Research Conference 2023 in Seattle, Washington. In the "Sharing Good Well" session, held October 27, 2023, Kirk discussed her research on consumer psychological ownership and stewardship of shared goods, territoriality, and her latest research, published in the Journal of Consumer Research, on consumers' responses to being reviewed in the sharing economy.
Rachel Morrison
HEOPRachel Morrison, M.S., HEOP director, was elected on October 27, 2023, as secretary for the Higher Education Opportunity Program Professional Organization, an organization that serves the needs and interests of current and prospective HEOP students and that fosters the association, professional development, recognition, and effectiveness of HEOP professionals and others concerned with the education and welfare of HEOP students.
