Andreas Theodoridis

SOAD / Architecture

Andreas Theodoridis, Ph.D., assistant professor in the architecture department, appeared in Season 2, Episode 19 of Fasma ("Spectrum"), aired by Greece's state-owned broadcaster (ERT) In July 2024. The episode titled "Unbearable Summer" explores how Greek cities are dealing with rising temperatures due to climate change. Theodoridis provided insights into the relationship between public spaces and the built environment, focusing on how cities can adapt to increasing heat. He also addressed the energy consumption of HVAC systems and their contribution to air pollution from burning fossil fuels. As the only architect among a group of experts, Theodoridis offered a distinct perspective on sustainable urban strategies.

Lyudmyla Susla

While a medical student at the College of Osteopathic Medicine, Lyudmyla Susla (D.O. '26) published an academic paper on artificial intelligence, titled "Performance of large language model artificial intelligence on dermatology board exam questions" The article was printed in the peer-reviewed journal Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, published online on June 25, 2024.

Maria M Plummer

NYIT-College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dept of Clinical Specialties

Maria Maratta Plummer, M.D., associate professor of pathology in the department of clinical specialities, published an article titled \n "Implementing PathElective as an organized means of supplementing pathology education in an osteopathic medical school—the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine experience" in Academic Pathology. She presented her work at the annual meeting of the Association of Academic Pathology on July 22, 2024, in Washington, D.C.

Evan Shieh

School of Architecture & Design

Evan Shieh, M.AUD., assistant professor of architecture, gave a lecture and led a discussion session at the Urban Design Forum (UDF) in New York City on July 22, 2024. Shieh spoke at UDF's "Office Hours" lecture series on the future of mobility, driverless vehicles and speculative urban futures.

Wei Zeng

College of Engineering & Computing Sciences / Department of Mechanical Engineering

On July 19, 2024, Wei Zeng, Ph.D., assistant professor of mechanical engineering, received a prestigious National Science Foundation grant to lead a research project on developing a hierarchical computational framework for modeling active skeletal muscles across scales.

Shaya Sheikh

Management-Business Analytics

Shaya Sheikh, Ph.D., associate professor of quantitative and analytics, and Ehsan Kamel, Ph.D., associate professor of energy management and the director of the Energy and Green Technologies Laboratory (EnTech Lab), published an article titled "Analyzing energy performance in American low income households: A DataDriven approach with machine learning insights." This study, published in the current issue of the Journal of Building Engineering (dated July 15, 2024), investigates the relationship between building characteristics and energy-related outputs for low-income and non-low-income households in the United States.

Wei Zeng

College of Engineering & Computing Sciences / Department of Mechanical Engineering

Wei Zeng, Ph.D., assistant professor of mechanical engineering, published an article titled "Advancements in diabetic foot insoles: a comprehensive review of design, manufacturing, and performance evaluation.'' The paper was published in Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, a peer-reviewed, open-access journal, on July 14, 2024.

Wenyao Hu

School of Management

Wenyao Hu, Ph.D., assistant professor of School of Management, published a paper, "The bright side of flight delay: How do flight delays affect auditing quality?" in EChina Accounting and Finance Review (ABDC ranking: A) on July 11, 2024. The paper explores how auditors’ negative moods, triggered by flight delays, impact auditing quality, demonstrating that such negative moods can enhance auditing effort and quality, evidenced by reduced future accounting restatements and increased audit efforts.

Linda Matthews

Academic Technology Services

Linda Matthews and Emily Sheehy, instructional technologists from Academic Technology Services, ITS, spoke about embedding RSS feeds into Canvas courses at InstructureCon 2024 in Las Vegas. July 9–11, 2024. Instructure is the owner of Canvas, New York Tech's Learning Management System.
