Thomas Lewellen has practiced Family Medicine including obstetrics, surgery, and emergency care for over 35 years. He was a private solo practitioner with his own clinic but also maintained hospital privileges throughout that time. During that time, he served as Chief of Staff and on the hospital board of directors. He also served as president of the AOMA and on the board of directors for a time.

Currently, Lewellen belongs to the AOA and AAFP. He served on the Arkansas Medicaid Drug Utilization board for over 20 years and still maintains certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS.v
