Soohee Lee is an Adjunct Assistant Professor and a registered architect in New York State with over 20 years of experience in sustainable, ecological, and regenerative design. She holds a Master of Science in Architecture from Columbia University and a Master of Landscape Architecture and Urban Design from Seoul National University, following a Bachelor of Architecture from SungKyunKwan University. After her career at Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), specialized in supertall buildings, she founded her New York-based practice, SAN (a certified MWBE). The firm’s work ranges from high-security commercial architecture, including projects at the World Trade Center in NYC, to small ecological designs with high potential for urban systems integration.
Beyond practice, Lee served as a guest researcher invited by the Department of Urbanism at TU Delft in the Netherlands, where she developed Micro Green Corridors to transform underutilized urban micro-lots into green infrastructure. Her commitment to global urban equity is also reflected in her work as an Advisor to UN-affiliated NGOs, where she presented research on sustainable community design and heritage preservation for underserved populations. As founder of the SAN Institute of Design and Technology, her current research focuses on nature-based solutions and urban agriculture in dense environments. She holds professional certificates in Urban Food Security, Landscape Ecology, and Sustainable Corporate Financing (ESG), and is a Horticulturist in training at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
