Konstantinos Mountrakis is a medical and social anthropologist specializing in personhood, ethics, and the governance of the dead within medical and institutional settings. He earned his Ph.D. in Medical Anthropology from Radboud University in 2025, with research focusing on whole-body donation, anatomical education, and the ethical stewardship of human remains.

Mountrakis serves as director of the anatomical bank and anatomy laboratory manager at New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he oversees the operation of the anatomical donor program and the daily management of the anatomy laboratory. His responsibilities include coordinating the educational and research use of donor bodies, maintaining regulatory compliance, developing laboratory policies and procedures, and supporting anatomy education for medical students, residents, and visiting physicians.

In addition to his administrative and laboratory leadership roles, Mountrakis serves as chair of the Human Tissue Use Committee, overseeing the ethical review of research and educational activities involving human tissue. His broader research examines personhood, medical ethics, and the social dimensions of anatomical donation, with publications appearing in journals including OMEGA – Journal of Death and Dying and Mortality.
