Jaclyn Cotgreave, Ph.D., PA-C, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies at New York Institute of Technology, where she serves as Associate Program Director, Director of Didactic Education, and Director of Student Success. She is certified as a physician assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Cotgreave earned her Ph.D. in Leadership with a specialty in Health Science from the University of the Cumberlands, a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Pace University, a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from New York Tech, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Classics from Eckerd College.
Cotgreave has more than 20 years of clinical experience as a physician assistant and continues to practice in cardiac electrophysiology at Stony Brook University Medical Center on Long Island. She has specialized in cardiac electrophysiology since beginning her PA career in 2005 and earned the designation of Certified Cardiac Device Specialist from the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners in 2008. Her clinical interests include cardiac electrophysiology, implanted cardiac devices, arrhythmia management, and cardiovascular medicine.
Cotgreave joined the New York Tech School of Health Professions as an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies in 2017 and became a full-time assistant professor in 2019. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 2025. In addition to her faculty role, she serves as Associate Program Director, Director of Didactic Education, and Director of Student Success. Her academic and teaching interests include anatomy, physiology, cardiology, electrocardiography, clinical laboratory medicine, research, and point-of-care ultrasonography.
Her scholarly interests include physician assistant education, student success, educational technology, emotional intelligence, professionalism and social media, cardiovascular medicine, and point-of-care ultrasound. Her peer-reviewed scholarship has appeared in the Journal of Allied Health, Journal of Medical Education and Curricular Development, and Heart Rhythm Case Reports. She has presented her work at local, state, and national conferences, including meetings of the Physician Assistant Education Association, American Academy of Physician Associates, and New York State Society of Physician Assistants. She has also served on the faculty team supporting New York Tech students participating in national ultrasound competitions.
Cotgreave has received several honors for her contributions to teaching and service at New York Tech. She received the Department of Physician Assistant Studies Outstanding Teaching Award in 2023 and the School of Health Professions Outstanding Service Award in 2024. She was also a finalist for the New York Tech Presidential Excellence in Teaching Award in 2024.
In addition to her teaching, clinical practice, scholarship, and administrative leadership, Cotgreave is actively involved in service to New York Tech and the PA profession. She has served on the New York Tech Academic Senate and numerous departmental, school, and institutional committees. Her professional service has included work with the New York State Society of Physician Assistants Legislative Committee, the Physician Assistant Education Association, and professional peer review. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Physician Associates, New York State Society of Physician Assistants, Physician Assistant Education Association, American Physiological Society, Heart Rhythm Society, Society of Critical Care Medicine, Point of Care Ultrasound Society, and Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiology.
