Becky Frieden is Deputy Chief Information Officer, where she provides strategic leadership across enterprise applications, data and analytics, digital transformation, and AI enablement. She works across the university to connect technology strategy with institutional priorities, helping modernize systems, strengthen the use and governance of data, and explore new ways technology can support students, faculty, and staff.
A higher education technology leader with a strong interest in the intersection of data, AI, and organizational change, Becky is passionate about helping institutions move from experimentation to responsible and sustainable adoption of emerging technologies. She advocates for approaches that pair innovation with strong governance, privacy, security, and data stewardship, while keeping people at the center of transformation.
Becky is also deeply interested in how the role of technology leadership is evolving as AI blurs traditional boundaries among IT, data, academics, and the business of higher education. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes curiosity, transparency, collaboration, and trust, and she is committed to making complex technologies understandable and useful to the communities they are intended to serve.
