JUFE Summer Study Abroad
Are you a domestic undergraduate student interested in an amazing educational and cultural experience? Consider applying for our short-term study abroad opportunity at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE) in Jiangxi Province of China, from July 3-19, 2026 (including travel days).
This is an opportunity to interact with global students, field scholars, and professionals in an immersive and interactive learning environment that goes beyond the limitations of traditional classrooms and academic conferences.
JUFE is one of the leading universities in economics and management in China, specializing in economics, finance, and management-related disciplines, in addition to offering advanced degrees in law, engineering, humanities, science, and the arts. All participants will receive a certificate from JUFE.
Three domestic undergraduate students will be selected to participate in an exciting summer experience featuring a variety of available program tracks. While this is a non-credit opportunity, these valuable experiences are great professional additions to your résumé.
Programs
Programs A, B, D, and E run: July 5 – 16, 2026.
Programs C and E run: July 5 – 18, 2026.
NOTE: All participants will take the same flights, regardless of program track.
Gain a more authentic and multidimensional understanding of contemporary China and Jiangxi, supported by academic dialogue, on-site observation, and Chinese traditional hands-on workshops (e.g., calligraphy, ceramics, Chinese tea art, etc.)
Master the interdisciplinary knowledge of cross-border economy and data intelligence, forming a complete theoretical framework and practical capabilities. Gain an in-depth understanding of China’s digital economy, cross-border trade development achievements, and Jiangxi’s regional culture.
Explore cutting-edge theories in public management such as green governance, digital transformation, and sustainable development. Enhance your communication and leadership skills, as well as practical abilities such as policy analysis in multicultural teams.
Build an interdisciplinary knowledge network to drive the convergence and innovation of cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence, software engineering, and edge computing.
Develop a solid theoretical framework of civilizational exchange and mutual learning, gain an in-depth understanding of the diverse values of Jiangxi’s intangible cultural heritage, and grasp the contemporary context and challenges of China’s international cultural communication.
Master the core theoretical framework of intercultural communication, gain an in-depth understanding of profound local culture, and acquire firsthand insights into China’s industrial development through field visits to local enterprises.
Requirements
- Applicants must be 18 years old or older as of July 1, 2026.
- Students must be registered as an undergraduate student for Summer 2026 or Fall 2026 courses.
- Students must be in good academic and disciplinary standing to be considered.
- Student participants must have a valid United States passport that expires after February 2027.
Application Process
- You must submit a completed application by March 25 at 11:59 p.m. (ET), including:
- A one-page statement sharing why you want to participate in the program
- A letter of recommendation from a faculty member
- Applications are due on March 25, 2026, 11:59 p.m. ET.
- New York Tech students do not need to submit the JUFE application or an HSK certificate as described in the program’s brochure. Please also disregard any deadline dates within the attached JUFE program brochure.
- A selection committee comprised of faculty, staff, and student representatives will review applications, interview final candidates, and propose final participants to the Office of the President for review/confirmation.
- Students will be notified of selection by or before April 15, 2026.
Costs
- Student participants are responsible for a non-refundable contribution of $700.
- Program costs and food will be provided by JUFE.
- Most travel-related expenses, including airfare, airport transfers, travel medical/health insurance, and fees in connection with obtaining a visa, will be covered by New York Tech.
- Students should also bring additional funds to cover miscellaneous expenses like souvenirs, etc.
What to Expect
- Student participants must participate in orientation before departure that includes information on general travel and safety, culture, attire, behavioral expectations, and additional details to help them gain the most from the program.
- Students will be traveling with a New York Tech staff member, and all participants—regardless of program track—will take the same flights.
- Participants will also be required to take part in a reflection experience upon their return.
