Michelle Cianfaglione is a licensed architect in the state of New York, a member of the New York chapter of the American Institute of Architects, co-founder of EXD Architecture, and an adjunct assistant professor at the New York Institute of Technology.

EXD focuses on smart, modular, integrated systems. Its ‘MODI’ wall system has been published in the New York Times as a Multitasking Home Solution. In 2022 EXD Architecture’s Shed System was selected by the AIA Center for Architecture in New York City, and the firm was asked to lead a team to rewrite the outdoor dining guidelines with city agencies and the proposed custom standard kit of parts. EXD’s research also includes the conversion of office buildings to residential uise in Midtown Manhattan.

Cianfaglione has worked for award-winning architects in Philadelphia and New York City on high-end residential and commercial work as well as international design competitions. She has been a professor for more than a decade, teaching classes in architecture and interior design, drawing, digital representation, architectural history, furniture design, and design studio at the New York Institute of Technology and other universities in and around New York City. Cianfaglione has received a M.Arch. from PennDesign (University of Pennsylvania) and a BPS in Architecture from the B/a+p (University at Buffalo).
