Consortium/Contractual Agreements
Taking a Semester at Another Institution
New York Tech undergraduate and graduate students who want to attend other institutions in the U.S. or abroad for a semester or more may qualify to use financial aid.
Students must be approved by their respective academic departments prior to attending the semester(s) and must provide all materials to the Office of Financial Aid at least four weeks prior to the start of the semester(s).
Financial Aid Consortium Agreement
New York Tech students who want to attend other institutions in the U.S. or abroad for a semester or more may qualify to utilize their federal financial aid under a consortium agreement. Students must provide:
- A completed New York Tech Consortium Agreement form.
- Documentation of the cost of attendance from the institution to be attended.
- Course registration or verification of enrollment from the institution to be attended.
- Contact information for the institution to be attended.
- NYIT academic department’s approval (Permission to Enroll).
Financial Aid Contractual Agreement
New York Tech students who want to attend other non-Title IV-eligible institutions in the U.S. or abroad for a semester may be able to use federal financial aid under a contractual agreement. Students must provide:
- A completed Contractual Agreement form.
- Assurance they have a valid FAFSA on file at New York Tech (using Title IV code 002782).
- Documentation of the cost of attendance from the institution to be attended.
- Course registration or verification of enrollment from the institution to be attended.
- Contact information for the institution to be attended.
- New York Tech academic department’s approval (Permission to Enroll).
Student Eligibility Regulations
The regulations of the U.S. Department of Education govern Title IV student eligibility and eligible amounts. Based on federal regulations, there is a limit on the portion of an educational program that can be offered by an ineligible school that can be done under a contractual agreement.
