Evan Shieh, M.AUD., assistant professor of architecture, was invited to serve on the jury panel of the 2024 "Non-Architecture Form Follows Life Competition," alongside five other international practitioners and academics. Registration for the publication began on May 1, 2024.

Jeannette Sordi, Ph.D., visiting associate professor at the School of Architecture and Design, was invited to give a keynote speech at Autonomous University in Juarez, Mexico on April 12, 2024. The conference was organized within the international workshop and research collaboration landscapes of Rio Bravo/Rio Grande. She presented her research on landscape urbanism as well as her work on ecological design and climate adaption for vulnerable cities developed with the Inter-American Development Bank.

Evan Shieh, M.AUD., assistant professor of architecture, is also the founding principal of Emergent Studio, where the design and construction proposal for "Banpo River Connection Park and Cultural Facilities" was selected in April 2024 to advance to the second phase of a major international competition hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Out of one of six shortlisted teams, Emergent Studio's entry Fast-Scape/Slow-Scape in collaboration with MMK+, Strange Works Studio, and Terrain Work, proposes a highway-decking park over the Olympic-daero highway. Once built, the project will be a paradigmatic public works and infrastructural project for the future of Seoul, redefining the city's relationship to the Han River.

Dongsei Kim, M.Des., assistant professor of architecture, delivered a presentation on his double-blind peer-reviewed research paper, "Whose Land Are You On? Accounting for Land Acknowledgments in NAAB Accredited Schools of Architecture in the United States," at the 112th annual conference of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) held in Vancouver, Canada, on March 15, 2024. In addition, his expertise in urbanism was recognized through an invitation to moderate a session titled "Urbanism: Urban Ecology & Community," which closely aligned with his research interests at the same conference.

Evan Shieh, M.AUD., assistant professor of architecture, was invited to serve on the distinguished jury panel of the 2024 "Urban Design Lab Competition Publication," alongside seven other panel members with urban expertise from universities around the world. Registration for the publication began on March 15, 2024, and the date set for jury consideration of submissions was July 20, 2024.

Jeannette Sordi, Ph.D., visiting associate professor at the School of Architecture and Design, presented her work on ecological design and climate adaption for vulnerable cities at the Città in Scena in Rome, Italy, on December 13, 2023. The mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, opened the event.

Dongsei Kim, M.Des., assistant professor of architecture, had his capstone thesis architectural design studio "Architecture & Applied Utopias: Envisioning a Resilient Sag Harbor," which is closely working with the community was mentioned in the WLIW-FM's Long Island Morning Edition on December 8, 2023, and in the Sag Harbor Express on December 5, 2023.

Andreas Theodoridis, Ph.D., assistant professor in the architecture department, organized the Climate Change and Tourism conference that was was held December 1 to 3, 2023, at the Center of Mediterranean Architecture (CAM) location in Greece. Theodoridis organized it on behalf of the CAM Advisory Board. He also moderated and participated in sessions with various professionals, including architects, public servants, legislators, hoteliers, and policymakers, who are related to the country's tourism and architecture industries.

Sandra Manninger, Ph.D., associate professor of architecture, and Athina Papadopoulou, Ph.D., assistant professor of architecture, spoke at the Design Without Boundaries: Bridging Research and Teaching Through International University Dialogs, a conference held in Venice, Italy, on November 23, 2023.

Pablo Lorenzo-Eiroa, M.Arch., Ph.D., associate professor of architecture and author of Digital Signifiers in an Architecture of Information: From Big Data and Simulation to Artificial Intelligence, was reviewed by Parametric Architecture on October 25, 2023. The review discusses the use of robotics and artificial intelligence in architecture and urban design.
