Terry Nauheim Goodman, M.F.A., associate professor and chair of the Department of Digital Art and Design, was recently voted onto the Abilities Board of Directors at the Viscardi Center in Albertson, NY. Abilities, Inc. prepares adolescents and adults with all types of disabilities (cognitive, physical, learning, developmental) and levels of experience for entry or re-entry into the workforce by assisting them in securing pre-employment services as well as employment so that they can enjoy independent living, full community participation, and economic self-sufficiency.

Nicholas Bloom, Ph.D., associate professor of social sciences, and Matthias Altwicker, M.U.P., associate professor of architecture, were two of three co-authors of "Yes, There is Room to Build More Housing in New York City," an op-ed in Crain's New York Business, September 2017, challenging the city to offer middle-income families the same developmental opportunities as public-housing residents.

Jon Michael Schwarting, M.Arch., professor of architecture, delivered a lecture, "An Urban Theory of Ideal-Formation and Real-Transformation," at the Rowe Rome: Cities of Good Intentions – Urban Design Dialogues conference in Rome, Italy, June 21-23, 2017.
