Why did you choose NYITCOM? I chose to attend NYITCOM because from my very first interactions with the school, I was able to develop a strong connection with the welcoming and supportive community. NYITCOM has a great reputation of upholding the values of osteopathic medicine and building inspiring future physicians. With its close proximity to NYC as well as my home state, I felt that NYITCOM is the perfect environment for me to fulfill my ambitions as a medical student and to provide me with many opportunities for success.

What is special about NYITCOM? NYITCOM is so special to me because I am able to learn and grow as a student physician alongside such a diverse group of dedicated medical students. It is truly amazing to meet and connect with students who come from a wide variety of backgrounds, took non-traditional paths to get to medical school, and have many different career goals. Connecting with and learning alongside my peers has added further fulfillment to my medical education.

What are your future plans and goals? I am currently interested in the field of OB/GYN or surgery but am excited to explore many other specialties! Throughout my first year, I have enjoyed learning about the different pathways in which I could take my medical degree and I look forward to further exploring my options.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? I chose to attend NYITCOM because of the welcoming environment, the commitment to molding well-rounded physicians, and the rich connections with the surrounding communities. As NYITCOM students, there are so many different organizations to join and volunteer opportunities to experience based on your personal interests. My decision to attend was solidified on my interview day, when I saw how excited the faculty and students were about creating a diverse community of future medical professionals.

What is special about NYITCOM? What I find the most special about NYTICOM is how open and collaborative the faculty and students are with each other. Everyone genuinely cares about the school and are invested in creating a positive community. You can email or talk to any of the faculty about school, research opportunities, or ways to get more involved in the community, and they will gladly make time our of their busy schedules to have a chat!

What are your future plans and goals? I am most interested in Pediatrics, and would like to practice in an underserved and diverse area. Wherever I end up, my goal is to collaborate with other healthcare professionals to find the best and most effective ways to serve our community!

What are your future plans and goals? I plan to practice in states with active refugee resettlement programs. My long term goal is to provide comprehensive health care to vulnerable populations and to utilize my global and public health experience on a national/international level.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? When choosing a medical school, location and proximity to home were important to me. NYITCOM has a prime location on Long Island since it is close to New York City, yet far enough away to give its students that suburban feel. Additionally, NYITCOM is only a short train ride away from home, allowing me to see my family as often as I would like.

What is special about NYITCOM? Coming from a close-knit community at my undergraduate institution, I knew that I wanted the same type of environment for my medical school. Ever since my pre-interview day I knew NYITCOM was special - from the emphasis on the supportive faculty to the noncompetitive atmosphere amongst my colleagues, I knew it was the place I wanted to spend the next 4 years learning medicine and growing as a person.

What are your future plans and goals? After NYITCOM, I hope to either remain in New York or go back to New England to complete my residency training. Ideally, I would love to practice in an urban setting with a diverse patient population. Currently, I am undecided on what area of medicine I want to specialize in, but I have faith my experiences at NYITCOM in the coming years will guide me to where I am meant to be!

Why did you choose NYITCOM? I chose NYITCOM because of many reasons. Being born and raised in NYC, I wanted to be close to my friends and family who are my support system. I also appreciated NYITCOM's emphasis on mental health as well as the multitude and diversity of student organizations on campus. The campus itself is very beautiful and there are many great spots to study or hang out.

What is special about NYITCOM? The faculty is genuinely supportive and want to ensure student success. There is always a mentor in the form of a faculty member or upper classman that is down to help or even just talk. NYITCOM also takes feedback seriously to address any student concerns.

What are your future plans and goals? I am currently leaning towards either family medicine or derm, but am keeping an open mind to see what I may like more during my rotations. Regardless of specialty, I would like to practice in NY and form a special bond with my patients to provide the best care possible.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? I chose NYITCOM because there are so many opportunities to get involved on campus. I loved that there is a student-run clinic that we can volunteer at and lots of organizations on campus.

What is special about NYITCOM? When searching for a medical school, finding a place that has a really supportive environment was very important to me. NYITCOM has completely exceeded my expectations. I have so many friends who I feel comfortable leaning on as well as faculty who I can reach out to whenever I need help. I am so thankful to have found a place where everyone is rooting for one another to succeed.

What are your future plans and goals? I am interested in emergency medicine, family medicine and internal medicine, but I am open to exploring so many different areas of medicine while on clinical rotations.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, proximity to NYC and the greater NY area was always a key aspect in choosing a medical school, putting NYITCOM high on my list. NYITCOM's vast network of alumni, numerous relationships with local hospitals, and the supportive and welcoming faculty is what made it my top choice.

What is special about NYITCOM? One of the main things I appreciate about NYITCOM is the feeling that the faculty genuinely care about your success. Aside from having a personal support network, walking onto a campus where the feeling of genuine concern and interest in you as a student and you as a person permeates is greatly motivating. It always amazed me how available and open the faculty are to meet with students, academics-related or not.

What are your future plans and goals? I am currently most interested in surgery or oncology. As I spend more time at NYITCOM with increasing exposure to other specialties, I find myself more and more interested in other fields of medicine so I'm excited for clinical rotations to help narrow down the best fit for me!

Why did you choose NYITCOM? Overall holistic approach to treat the patient and to look patient as a whole and beyond just the physical ailments and to learn the osteopathic approach for the patient.

What is special about NYITCOM? NYITCOM not only gives emphasis on studying and physical health but the importance of mental health. The camaraderie between students and even the professors sets up an exemplary example of how a school should be.

What are your future plans and goals? I very much intend to go into Internal Medicine and do fellowship in Pulm Critical Care. I would love to be around Louisiana or Colorado but that can change in the future.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? I chose to attend NYIT because I wanted to stay on Long Island for my medical education. I knew it would be really important to be close to my support system (family, friends, and mentors) during the stressful moments of medical school. I also loved how alumni spoke so highly of their time at NYITCOM and how proud they were to have received their medical education from the college of medicine.

What is special about NYITCOM? The welcoming and supportive community within the college of medicine really stood out to me on interview day and is truly appreciated as a current student. In addition, I am confident that my education and training from NYITCOM will provide me with the competency to be a great physician leader!

What are your future plans and goals? Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psych. As a physician, I want to work and support underserved and marginalized populations and raise awareness about under-diagnosing and misdiagnosing in minority children. As well as, work to combat mental health stigmas in these communities.

What is special about NYITCOM? NYITCOM finds a way to engage every student on a personal level whether its from the dedicated academic scholars to the assigned faculty members. There are multiple outlets for me to get the resources or advice that I need to develop into a impressive physician.

What are your future plans and goals? My goals after graduation are to match into a emergency medicine program in New York City and work in a trauma center. As someone who started as a EMT, it would be incredible for me to continue my experiences with emergency care as a physician.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? When I was choosing which medical schools to apply to, many physicians had recommended NYITCOM due to its reputable medical training and wide alumni network. I attended many information sessions prior to applying and was struck by how professional and warm the Student Ambassadors and faculty were. Their encouragement and guidance through the admissions process made NYITCOM an easy decision for me.

What is special about NYITCOM? What makes NYITCOM special is its commitment to their students. The curriculum motivates students to practice and improve their clinical skills in a safe and controlled environment. This ensures that each student receives the exposure and proper training to be a successful healthcare provider in the future.

What are your future plans and goals? I am currently interested in Neurology and Psychiatry but am open to other fields of medicine as I continue my education here at NYITCOM.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? Being from NY, I was fortunate to know physicians who attended NYITCOM. They introduced me to the osteopathic route of becoming a doctor and had great things to say about their experiences at NYITCOM. I saw how successful and compassionate they were in treating their patients and hope to treat my future patients the same way.

What is special about NYITCOM? My favorite part of NYITCOM is the supportive community. The faculty and fellow students genuinely want to see us succeed and become the best physician to our future patients. It is hard work, but the people here make it such an enjoyable experience.

What are your future plans and goals? I hope to stay around the Tri-State area, but I am unsure what field of medicine I will pursue. I am excited to learn about all of the possibilities!

I chose NYITCOM because I had heard from many current students and past how much they enjoyed their time here and because of their reputation as being a well respected Osteopathic school. I was told the faculty truly elevated the experience for the students as well. Being close to home is also just an added perk for me.

What is special about NYITCOM? Within my first few days at NYITCOM I found all my peers to be very accepting and willing to help each other. I found it very easy to make a great group of friends/ study partners. The faculty also make every effort possible to make our lab experiences smooth and often times reach out on their own time to make sure all their students are succeeding and thriving.

What are your future plans and goals? I am not entirely sure of what I want to do exactly. I enjoy the thought of Orthopedics, Pediatrics, and Neurology for specialties. I know I would love to stay in New York for the time being during and after residency and possibly move to NYC.

The warm, inclusive environment fostered by NYITCOM makes students feel at home from the moment they step foot on campus. This was an extremely important factor in my choice of medical school.

What is special about NYITCOM? The support from faculty and staff at NYITCOM is truly special. Professors make it known that they are completely invested in our success.

What are your future plans and goals? Right now, I am interested in a variety of specialties, such as sports medicine, orthopedic surgery, and oncology/hematology. I would love to practice medicine here in New York, to remain close to my family.

What are your future plans and goals? As of now I would like to either do Emergency Medicine or General Surgery. I will also be serving in the Air Force as a physician upon graduation.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? I chose NYITCOM because of its long-standing reputation as a stellar osteopathic medical school in the tri-state area. NYITCOM's history of training physicians who help underserved patient populations, who practice evidence-based medicine/research, and who have life-long commitments to learning convinced me that NYITCOM would be a great fit for me.

What is special about NYITCOM? I really value the amount of personalized attention and training that we receive as medical students. All of our labs are split up into small groups that allow us to learn extensively from our attending and colleagues. We also have an amazing simulation lab where we can practice clinical skills on mannequins and become better student doctors through standardized patient encounters. Lastly, there is such a strong sense of community on campus, as well as an extensive NYIT/NYCOM alumni network that helps make me feel well supported as a student in the Class of 2025.

What are your future plans and goals? At the moment, I am interested in pursuing either Surgery or OB/GYN for residency, hoping to match in the tri-state area or close to Philadelphia, PA, where I am from.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? I chose NYITCOM because of its extremely close proximity to where I live and grew up, as well as its wonderful reputation and tight knit environment. During my MCAT studying, I decided to drive through NYITCOM's campus for studying inspiration and hoped that one day I would be one of those students wearing a white coat. Being that I am from Long Island, I have come across many D.O. physicians who have received their medical education from NYITCOM, so it has been reassuring to see those succeed tremendously coming from the school that I am now so lucky to be attending.

What is special about NYITCOM? I admire NYITCOM's tight knit community that makes it possible to get to know peers of all classes, not just your own. Since day one, NYITCOM has made it possible to connect with upperclassmen who only want to help you succeed along your medical school journey. This itself has helped me the most in gaining insight into what will best aid me in my studies and ensure me that hard work does lead you to success!

What are your future plans and goals? I am interested in OBGYN, but I feel that over time my interests may change and I am accepting of that. I want to make sure that I have an open mind while on rotations to truly find what specialty I desire to go into, that will challenge me in ways necessary and bring me gratitude.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? I chose NYITCOM because I knew I could receive a quality medical education while also remaining close to my support system. Even before applying, I got a strong sense of the good reputation that NYITCOM has on Long Island through interactions with alumni and current students. Seeing how students during my interview day genuinely thought highly of this program and interacted so well with one another, solidified my decision to become apart of this inviting community.

What is special about NYITCOM? NYITCOM is close-knit and inclusive. We're constantly given opportunities to express our individuality and collaborate with one another. With so many unique backgrounds we have a variety perspectives that contribute to our learning environment. There are also so many programs and resources available to help students manage workload that comes with learning medicine. Everyone, from our faculty to our students, is truly invested in your success.

What are your future plans and goals? At this point in my medical education I haven't committed to one speciality, so I'm keeping an open mind. I've been passionate about playing a role in increasing health equity and decreasing health disparities since my undergraduate studies. I know that these will factor heavily into whatever speciality I end up going for.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? I chose NYCOM because I really enjoyed the surrounding area, it reminded me a lot of my hometown. I loved the idea of moving out on my own, but not necessarily moving to an area that felt foreign. Between that, the academics, beauty of the campus and how cool the professors seemed, it was a no-brainer.

What is special about NYITCOM? I was so fortunate to meet so many people my first couple weeks that were really cool and super accepting. I haven't always an environment that was cool with who am I, but that's never been a problem at NYITCOM. I appreciate and enjoy the noncompetitive and accepting vibes that everyone gives off here.

What are your future plans and goals? I am not well decided on what specialty I want to do. My mind leans towards EM, but that could change on a whim. Ideally I would like to be a physician that helps out a lot of LGBTQ+ people because of the support my PCP has given me over the years and maybe later down the line I'd like to teach.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? I knew NYITCOM was the right school for me because of its location, and for its collaborative culture. The proximity to beaches, restaurants and the city makes it easy for me to find ways to enjoy medical school when I'm not studying. The faculty and my peers have also made my experience enjoyable so far, and I can't wait to see what is in store for me the next few years here!

What is special about NYITCOM? NYITCOM's reputation was precedented by its amazing faculty and student body. I've never experienced a time I needed help, and I wasn't able to quickly email my professors, mentors, peers, and academic advisors. It really does feel like there's a village for each student here, and I'm comforted by knowing their support will continue as I pursue this career.

What are your future plans and goals? My interests are all over the place, however I'm exploring Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics at the moment! I know I want to practice in NYC, and am looking forward to rotations to help me explore other specialties and finalize my decision.

The community we have at NYITCOM is so inviting, there is a vast number organizations so that each student's interests are catered for, and the faculty truly cares about our success.

What is special about NYITCOM? The most special thing about NYITCOM has to be the people. I've been so fortunate to find such a wonderful group of friends that I bonded with so quickly, which is not something that happens at any school. The people here are all so passionate, kind, and helpful. I truly am blessed to be able to experience this journey in medicine with them.

What are your future plans and goals? I have always had an interest in becoming an OBGYN, but I am very eager to learn about all different areas of medicine to see which speciality is the right match for me. NYITCOM has already exposed me to qualities that make each specialty rewarding, and I can't wait to explore more!

Why did you choose NYITCOM? I chose NYITCOM because of its location, excellent reputation, and abundant clinical affiliations. The community was also very welcoming, and I saw there were many resources available here to help me succeed.

What is special about NYITCOM? NYITCOM is special because of the camaraderie among students and the supportive faculty. There are also numerous opportunities to connect with alumni and many different student organizations to get involved in.

What are your future plans and goals? I haven't decided on a specialty yet, but I am interested in orthopedics, radiology, and physiatry. I am keeping an open mind and look forward to learning more about the various specialties throughout my medical education.

Why did you choose NYITCOM? More than anything, I wanted to be somewhere that not only provided exceptional training, but also an atmosphere of support, opportunity, and collaboration. NYITCOM's emphasis on these values assured me that I was going to have a full and meaningful couple of years.

What is special about NYITCOM? Time and time again, I'm reminded of the incredible camaraderie that exists at each level of our school. Whether it's the students or the faculty, there's always someone willing to go out of their way and lend a helping hand.

What are your future plans and goals? Even though I haven't decided on a specialty just yet, I hope to help address key issues in clinical medicine and public health that affect the everyday well-being of urban communities.
