After attending NYIT-COM, I can say with utmost confidence that it is one of the best decisions I have made.

NYITCOM is special because: What I love about most about NYIT-COM is how much the faculty cares for their students. Pronouns
Hometown: Baghdad, Iraq
Undergrad/Grad School (Major):
Emigre Physician Medical School Attended: Al-Anbar University College of Medicine
Clubs and Activities: AOCA, AOCR, GHO, Student Ambassador

I chose NYITCOM because: NYITCOM offers one of a kind experience for physicians who studied medicine abroad to go through medical school again to earn DO degree. It's a life changing opportunity in what could be the new standard of getting licensed to practice in the USA along with getting to study medicine in accordance with the latest advancements in science.

NYITCOM is special because: The thing that I like the most about NYITCOM is the teamwork mentality established through the academic system. I keep hearing the word "We" instead of the word "I" when it comes to achieving tasks, new academic experiences or getting to learn new materials. The diversity on campus is phenomenal, giving the sense of comfort to every student regardless of his origin and serves as a source of learning about different cultures and backgrounds. Last but not least, the weekly sport activities organized by the school and attended by many students, athletic or not, giving us a nice time to socialize and get our hearts pumping to make us Fit Physicians and stay active through medical school.

Future Plans and Goals: I have special interest in anesthesiology, it's the specialty where you get to have vast knowledge in human physiology and pharmacology with the goal of relieving pain and painless procedures. I like to apply my future knowledge in an academic setting where I can teach future doctors.

Campus: Long Island
Highest Education B.S.
Pronouns
Hometown: Poughkeepsie, NY
Undergrad/Grad School (Major): Hofstra University (Neuroscience)
Clubs and Activities: SOMA, NYITCOM MSA, Rock Steady Boxing, Student Ambassador

I chose NYITCOM because: The Old Westbury campus was the ideal location for where I wanted to attend medical school. As a previous student of Hofstra University, Long Island had become my second home. Moreover, I am very close to my family and since NYITCOM is only a 2-hour drive away from my hometown, I am able to travel home whenever I need. NYITCOM's history and prestige as a medical school in New York also ensured me that I would be provided with the best possible education.

NYITCOM is special because: The environment. The number one thing I was looking for in a medical school was a sense of camaraderie and unity among its students and NYITCOM has provided me just that. Everyone from upperclassmen, to our professors/doctors, to fellow peers, is willing to help one another and there is a complete lack of that typical "cut-throat" medical school attitude. Medical school is hard and having a solid group of encouraging friends, classmates and educators is extremely important.

Future Plans and Goals: As of right now, I am undecided as to which specialty I want to pursue but I am looking forward to rotations, where I will be able to hopefully solidify my field of interest.

I chose NYITCOM because: During interview day, I felt very welcomed and enjoyed my time. The ambassadors at the time were awesome and willing to answer any and all questions I had. Being close to home was a bonus, but being on campus allows for me to be involved in organizations such as that of the Student Ambassadors.

NYITCOM is special because: What attracts me most to NYITCOM is the feeling of family one experiences while here. Whether it be in the classroom, the lab, or outside of the learning environment, everyone is in it together for the long haul. Nobody is looking to put others down, and we are all here to succeed and support others in doing so.

Future Plans and Goals: Although I am currently unsure as to which specialty I will be pursuing, I have great interest in areas such as cardiology and anesthesia. I also have a growing interest in neurology, and will be exploring that area a bit more in the coming months. In regard to my future, wherever I may end up, I hope to provide comforting care for those I encounter. I understand that the medical field is no longer about simply finding a diagnosis, but working as a team with one's patients and colleagues to cover the complete spectrum of what makes us human.

I chose NYITCOM because: Aside from the amazing community of students and faculty, I fell in love with the campus. I r loved the feel of having a mini campus and 3 buildings to change up my study scene. The administration does a great job of updating the buildings/lab spaces, which encourages students to utilize the spaces and study more collaboratively! NYITCOM also does a terrific job engaging their students in non-academic interests and promoting personal growth in other areas outside of medicine, which was something I looked for while choosing a medical school.

NYITCOM is special because: Going into NYITCOM, I knew the faculty was known to be good, but I was blown away by how helpful they actually were when I started school myself. They always have an open door for questions, whether it be related to medicine or just about life, and they help whenever they can! Every faculty member always has a connection they are willing to share to advance your career or medical school experience. Beyond academics, I value the emphasis placed on students' mental health and ensuring healthy study habits. The administration does a great job making sure there are plenty of non-medicine related events for study breaks and decompressing.
