Commencement 2018: What You Need to Know

On May 22, the NYIT community will celebrate the Class of 2018 at the 57th Commencement Ceremony.

The most important thing to note is the change of venue: This year’s ceremony will be held at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y. Remember to order tickets by April 30.

Commencement 2018 By the Numbers

  • 2,710 graduates across all NYIT campuses
  • 1,369 students will receive graduate degrees
  • 1,026 will receive undergraduate degrees
  • 315 will receive doctoral degrees
  • Students from 82 countries and 31 states will graduate in 2018

NYIT alumna Carol Silva (B.F.A.), morning and midday anchor at News 12 Long Island, will be presented with an honorary degree. She will also deliver the keynote address before an expected audience of more than 8,000 students, faculty, staff, family, and friends.

Maylan Lamhut Studart (B.F.A.), who is from Ipanema in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Krishan Wanarajan (M.S.), who is from Suva, Fiji, will serve as the Class of 2018 student orators and speak during the commencement ceremony. Jacob Miguel (D.O.), from Fall River, Mass., will sing the national anthem.
