Celebrate the Inauguration of NYIT President Hank Foley

On April 12, NYIT President Hank Foley, Ph.D., will be inaugurated as the university’s fourth president. NYIT campuses will be celebrating the occasion with a weeklong series of events on April 9, beginning with a Kick-Off Celebration for students and faculty and staff members. Other events include the annual Faculty Scholars Reception, a Day of Giving, School of Health Professions Dean’s Speaker Series, and a legacy reception for new students and alumni. The week will end with SOURCE, an annual presentation of NYIT student projects on April 13.

Kick-Off Celebration for Faculty, Staff, and Students
President Foley will share his vision for the future of NYIT; student and faculty representatives will also speak.

Bionic Health-Inspired Stone Pavilion
A showcase of competition proposals for a stone pavilion to be built on NYIT’s Old Westbury campus. This exhibition and other related events also include the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Education, NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine, and School of Health Professions.

Building Resilient Communities
NYIT’s Freedom by Design student group and Professors Farzana Gandhi and Matthias Altwicker exhibit designs for a Neighborhood Design Center and public green space on 148th Street in Harlem.

Tuesday, April 10
Faculty Scholars Reception (invitation only)
The Office of Academic Affairs will host an exhibition of research and creative expression by NYIT faculty members from all campuses, including presentations by select researchers.

Wednesday, April 11
Day of Giving

In honor of NYIT’s new president and in support of NYIT’s mission to make the world a better place, students and staff and faculty members are encouraged to participate in community service activities. Opportunities to volunteer and pledge support to service initiatives underway will be offered throughout the day on and near campuses. Come out to the athletic field and watch President Hank Foley initiate a ceremonial game face-off before the 4 p.m. men’s lacrosse game against Wheeling Jesuit.

NYIT Symposium: Where Blockchain Leads
Join a panel conversation on one of the most significant tech findings of the 21st century. Hear how blockchain is disrupting conventions and reshaping finance, healthcare, supply chains, government, transportation, and media by minimizing fraud and maximizing efficiency, security, and transparency. A keynote by New York Times writer and best-selling novelist Teddy Wayne presents a cultural and political analysis of the rise of the blockchain and where it might lead us.
