School of Management Welcomes New Dean
On July 1, Jaishankar Ganesh, Ph.D., officially joined New York Tech as dean of the School of Management. He had been with the Rutgers School of Business–Camden, part of the State University of New Jersey. In describing what attracted him to New York Tech, he notes the university’s visionary leaders, asset mix of schools and colleges, and locational strength with campuses in New York and Vancouver, among the factors. “Successful leaders in academia today are those who understand and respect tradition but also those who help to enable change. I see that ecosystem for innovation and change in place at New York Tech and want to be part of its vibrant, dynamic culture,” he says.
As a member of the senior academic leadership team, Ganesh will provide academic, administrative, strategic, and financial leadership for the School of Management. His primary responsibilities include managing and generating new resources for the school and engaging external constituents to raise visibility and reputation; recruiting, developing, and retaining talented faculty and staff; and overseeing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum review while working closely with faculty to support a culture of student success across all School of Management programs on the New York City, Long Island, and Vancouver campuses.

Ganesh joined Rutgers School of Business-Camden in 2010 as dean and professor of marketing, serving as dean until 2019. At that time, he became university professor, a position recommended by Rutgers’ president in recognition of Ganesh’s successes in expanding the business school’s portfolio of programs, including launching new and innovative undergraduate and graduate programs, creating two online degree programs, expanding support for faculty research, and strengthening the school’s connection to the business community, among other accomplishments. As dean, he doubled enrollment and more than quadrupled overall revenue while working with faculty and other stakeholders to design and launch the school’s strategic plan successfully. He also successfully led two AACSB Continuous Improvement Reviews as well as the university process for Middle States Accreditation.
At New York Tech, Ganesh will focus on running and growing the School of Management. He notes that “running the school” includes initiatives focusing on the faculty and student experience, as well as securing AACSB reaccreditation. “Growing the school” includes developing new programs, identifying and delivering what employers need in terms of knowledge workers, strengthening corporate partnerships, and “amplifying the value of the School of Management to students.”
Prior to Rutgers, he was associate dean for six years in the College of Business Administration, University of Central Florida (UCF), which included oversight of research and graduate and doctoral programs, as well as executive education. He was an assistant professor in UCF’s Department of Marketing and then associate professor of marketing. He was also a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Houston. He earned a Ph.D. in marketing and international business and an M.B.A. in international business from the University of Houston.
