Joint China M.B.A. Program Welcomes 22nd Cohort

On December 16, 2021, New York Institute of Technology welcomed 141 students in this year’s 22nd cohort of the joint M.B.A. program with Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (JUFE). The hour-long opening event took place on JUFE’s main campus in Nanchang and was streamed to student participants at the university’s Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen campuses and via Zoom.

Following welcome remarks by JUFE President Deng Hui, a videotaped introduction by New York Tech President Hank Foley, Ph.D., was shared with attendees. School of Management Professor and Executive Associate Dean Scott Liu, who has led the program since it began in 1997, traveled from New York to Nanchang to deliver an in-person address, while School of Management Interim Dean Deborah Y. Cohn, Ph.D. (M.B.A. ’89), joined the event virtually from New York.

In addition to the president, representatives from JUFE included the ceremony’s emcee, Ning Liang, dean of the School of M.B.A. Education at JUFE, as well as Vice President Yuan Honglin, Dean Luo Shihua, Director Xiao Long, Dean of the School of Business Administration of JUFE Hu Haibo, Dean Ning Liang, and Associate Dean Jin Xin.

The joint program has an established legacy and reputation in China. New York Tech became one of the first foreign universities to receive approval from China’s Ministry of Education to operate an M.B.A. in China through an agreement with JUFE. During the intensive, rigorous degree program, School of Management faculty members from the Long Island and New York City campuses travel to China to conduct intensive classes. Student groups also meet with faculty in Shanghai, Beijing, and Shenzhen. To date, the joint program has educated more than 1,700 M.B.A. graduates.
