New York State’s Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) seeks to provide the State’s public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function.

Effective December 31, 2013, all applicants for New York State teacher certification are required to complete six hours of coursework or training in this area. New York Institute of Technology is an approved provider of this coursework and will be offering the required 6-hour workshop in the following format: a 3-hour individual online component followed by a 3-hour “face-to-face” class. Participants will receive instructions to complete the 3-hour online portion approximately one week prior to the face-to-face class for which they register. The online component can then be completed at any point during that week, as long as it is completed prior to attending the face-to-face class.

As of March 23, 2020, due to COVID-19, NYSED has approved New York Tech to hold the 3-hour face to face class virtually. You should select your workshop date below, complete the 3-hour online individual component, and then your instructor will host the in person component through Zoom. We hope that this allows everyone to safely complete the DASA workshop and their certification requirements during this time.

At the completion of the face to face portion, the instructor will electronically submit participant’s information to NYSED as proof of completion.

Our workshop is open to both New York Tech and non-New York Tech students.

Tuition: $89.00 for the 6-hour required course.
