Environmental Health & Safety

The Office of Environmental Health and Safety at New York Institute of Technology is tasked with ensuring the health and safety of all its students, staff, and faculty. Our goal is to provide leadership to sustain a safe environment at all New York Tech campuses while promoting a strong academic community. The office is accountable for all environmental health and safety issues that face our campuses and two medical schools. Our primary focus is on safety issues related to its employees, students, and onsite contractors and environmental issues related to asbestos, lead, and mold projects, and hazardous and medical waste disposal. In addition, the office is consulted on all environmental issues relating to the general counsel, real estate, insurance, budgeting, and construction projects, as well as normal operation and maintenance activities.

The Office of Environmental Health and Safety has been structured to ensure it can work effectively on all campuses.

The Long Island campus office functions as the main point of contact, while campus safety officers and laboratory safety coordinators are responsible for environmental health and safety in their respective areas.
