New York, NY – New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) will host "The 21^st-Century Leader: The Path to Success in a Global Economy," a free lecture by alumna Patricia Galloway, Ph.D. (M.B.A. '84), CEO of Pegasus Global Holdings, Inc., on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at the Auditorium on Broadway.

Presented by NYIT's School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, the lecture will kick off NYIT's 21^st-Century Leaders Speakers Series and is open to NYIT faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the general public. Galloway will share stories of experiences that paved her way to a successful career in science, technology, and business—and offer insights on best practices for success in a global economy.

Galloway has taken a special interest in encouraging females to enter the engineering field. "I'm dedicated helping young women see that engineers solve some of the world's biggest problems," she says.

As CEO of Pegasus Global Holdings, a global leader in risk management and strategic consulting for the energy, infrastructure, and transportation industries, Galloway has been involved in some of the world's largest projects across more than 100 countries, including the Columbia Crossing Bridge, the Panama Canal, and the London Crossrail Project. Galloway was named the first woman president of the American Society of Civil Engineers and was appointed to a six-year term on the National Science Board by President George W. Bush in 2006. In addition to receiving Glamour magazine's Top Ten Women in Business Award, she is the second woman and the youngest nominee to receive the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award from Purdue University, and was named one of the Top Ten Women in Construction by Engineering News-Record.
