NYIT Ranked in Top Tier of U.S News and World Report's 2011 Edition of Best Colleges

August 17, 2010

Old Westbury, NY – For the 13th consecutive year, New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) has been ranked as a top university in the north by U.S. News & World Report's 2011 Best Colleges, among regional schools that offer a full range of undergraduate and master's programs.

Over the past two decades, the U.S. News college rankings, which group schools based on categories created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, has grown to be the most comprehensive research tool for students and parents considering higher education opportunities.

The rankings provide a thorough examination of how more than 1,400 accredited four-year schools compare based on a set of up to 16 widely accepted indicators of excellence. Among the many factors weighed in determining the rankings are: peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving.

The rankings were announced today at www.usnews.com/colleges, and will be published in the September issue of U.S.News & World Report. For more information about Best Colleges, visit www.usnews.com/colleges.
