NYIT-Vancouver is booming. In the past two years, the master’s programs in management, finance, instructional technology, energy management, and cybersecurity have experienced unprecedented enrollment growth.

This means good things for the university. On November 6 and 7, NYIT President Hank Foley, Ph.D., paid a visit to the campus to tour the facilities; meet with government, political, and industry representatives; and explore ways in which the master’s program in Information, Network, and Computer Security can help address Canada’s lack of trained cybersecurity professionals.

One of the primary purposes of the trip was the president’s tour of NYIT-Vancouver’s two new spaces located at the Broadway Tech Centre across town from the main campus. He and Executive Director Irene Young met with students, faculty, and staff and co-hosted a reception with members of the local business community to celebrate the visit and the new locations.

His itinerary also included a scenic helicopter flight to the capital of British Columbia (B.C.), Victoria, and a dinner with local alumni. The next day, the president met with representatives of NYIT-Vancouver’s Energy Management Industry Advisory Committee, which is made up of energy and utility companies, government, and sustainability organizations.

“It was wonderful having President Foley in town,” said Young. “We look forward to his future visits as we continue to grow and foster connections with business and the community here in Vancouver.”
