News Byte: Two New York Tech Deans Named to Healthcare Power List

Dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine Nicole Wadsworth, D.O., and Dean of the School of Health Professions Gordon Schmidt, Ph.D., were name to Long Island Business News’ 2022 Power Health Care list.

The list recognizes professionals who are making significant contributions that impact the health and well-being of the community and includes those who run healthcare systems, hospitals, nursing homes, physician practices, or healthcare support businesses as well as healthcare education programs.

Schmidt was recognized for his leadership and guidance, including his role in the school receiving a $200,000 grant from the New York State Department of Labor and the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council to train healthcare workers to meet short- and long-term workforce needs in Long Island and New York City.

Long Island Business News honored Wadsworth as a recognized expert in the field of medical education. “Wadsworth’s educational interests include board preparation of medical students who struggle with academic success, interprofessional education, simulation in medical education, and curriculum development,” said the outlet

Also on the list is Patrick M. O’Shaughnessy (D.O. ’99), chief executive officer of Catholic Health and member of New York Tech’s Board of Trustees, who oversees a $3.2 billion healthcare system.
