For the first time, the computer science program in NYIT College of Engineering and Computing Sciences has been accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET, the recognized accrediting body of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering and technology.

In addition, three of the engineering and engineering technology programs have been reaccredited: electrical and computer engineering technology by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) as well as mechanical engineering and electrical and computer engineering by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET.

“Bravo to Nada [Anid], Interim Dean Babak Beheshti, [Professor] Steve Billis, the chairs, and all the faculty,” said NYIT President Hank Foley, Ph.D., at the university’s Convocation on August 30.

Added Babak Beheshti, Ph.D., “The recent reaccreditation of three of our bachelor’s programs, and the initial accreditation of our Bachelor of Science in Computer Science program by ABET constitute a milestone in the evolution of the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences at NYIT, exemplifying its continued commitment to advancing engineering, engineering technology and computer science education and practice.”
