News Byte: New York Tech Joins National Academy of Inventors

Libby Sullivan| August 29, 2023

As New York Tech looks ahead to another promising academic year, the university has joined a prestigious organization comprising United States and international universities, government agencies, and nonprofit research groups.

New York Tech is now a member of the National Academy of Inventors, an organization founded to recognize and encourage inventors with U.S. patents, enhance the visibility of academic technology and innovation, encourage the disclosure of intellectual property, educate and mentor innovative students, and create a wider public understanding of how its members’ inventions benefit society.

While the NAI has more than 4,600 individual members, New York Tech joins an elite group of only 13 universities and 15 member organizations in New York State.

“New York Tech is the home of doers, makers, and innovators who are ready to reinvent the future. We have a marvelous group of inventors on our campuses spanning several disciplines. Joining the NAI is a great step for us as we cultivate a community of inventors and innovators among our faculty, staff, and students,” says President Hank Foley, Ph.D.

More information will be shared throughout the year about how New York Tech will leverage its NAI membership.

Since 2019, New York Tech is also a member of the prestigious Association of Independent Technological Universities(AITU), a group of 21 leading private technological universities and colleges.
