Environmental Technology & Sustainability, M.S.

Prepare for a career in an in-demand field by choosing from concentrations in water resources, environmental compliance, climate change, and sustainable technology.

What You’ll Learn

In the Environmental Technology & Sustainability, M.S., you’ll gain critical experience in best practices in environmental systems for air, water, energy, and waste.

You’ll collaborate with faculty members and institute personnel who serve on the New York State Drinking Water Quality Council and address urban infrastructure along with the food-energy-water nexus on a multinational committee.

You’ll also conduct research and design projects addressing the needs of industry and government in our fully operational wastewater treatment lab or in dedicated space in our Biological Sciences and Bioengineering Lab.

As part of our multidisciplinary curriculum, you'll have the opportunity to specialize your studies, choosing from concentrations in water resources, environmental compliance, climate change, and sustainable technology.

How You’ll Succeed

Upon graduation, you’ll be ready to offer employers a unique skill set including the ability to develop environmental models from datasets using software such as SAS; knowledge of all major federal environmental laws; an understanding of advanced mapping through ArcGIS; and working experience on specialized equipment, including x-ray fluorescence and spectrophotometry.

News Byte: Preparing the Next Generation of Cybersecurity Experts

January 21, 2021

Through the “Strengthening the Cisco Cybersecurity Pipeline” project, New York Tech worked with instructors to train 24 high school teachers to help them implement cybersecurity lessons in the classroom while five grad students acted as mentors to the students.
