Creating a User-Friendly Experience
Dhruvi Brahmbhatt (M.A. ’21) loves making technology easier for people. At Dell Technologies, she does exactly that as a UI/UX designer (user interface/user experience), looking for ways to improve features for existing applications.
Brahmbhatt credits her time at New York Tech with learning this specialty, which has taken her career to new heights.
“I had a design background and finished my Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from Ganpat University in India,” says Brahmbhatt. She wanted to further her studies and was attracted to New York Tech’s M.A. in UX/UI Design and Development and its reputation for helping students achieve success. “I graduated with all the confidence in the world that I could do well,” she says.
As a student, she had a summer internship as a UX design intern at The Glimpse Group, a VR/AR (virtual reality/augmented reality) platform company, working on technology to help high school students create interactive posters. She also worked as a volunteer with multiple museums where she presented VR/AR educational workshops, including at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum and French Institute Alliance Française. “Being out in front like that makes you better at presenting, and that really helps you in business,” she says. Brahmbhatt also volunteered with the Institute for Career Development, a not-for-profit workforce development organization, as a UX designer, where she redesigned the the website.
In her role at Dell, she enjoys interviewing users about their experience with the company’s products and using their feedback to improve the experience. “Getting that feedback is really interesting, and you sometimes can be surprised by what they tell you.”
Brahmbhatt, who lives in Atlanta, says she will always feel a connection to New York Tech, where her technological dreams came true. “New York Tech gives you the hands-on training to help you succeed but also challenges you to improve your thinking,” she says. “I often tell people the difference it made for me, and I’m loving what I’m doing now!”
