President Balentine Pens Op-ed About Innovation
A Newsday op-ed by President Jerry Balentine, D.O., discusses how Long Island can continue to build on its legacy of being a region that leads in innovation. As he recognizes a new era shaped by artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, healthcare, and data-driven entrepreneurship, Balentine contends that Long Island must think differently about how innovation ecosystems are built, including stronger partnerships among higher education, business, investors, civic leaders, and entrepreneurs.
He notes that the region must focus on workforce development and a stronger entrepreneurial infrastructure, adding that “universities have a pivotal role to play.”
“With the right investment and stronger collaboration among colleges, companies, and communities, the region can build on its innovation heritage and develop a new wave of technology entrepreneurs,” he writes.
