Physician Explains Why Water is Number One
College of Osteopathic Medicine Associate Professor of Family MedicineMatthew Heller, D.O., is featured in a Real Simple article about the best drink to consume when battling an illness—water.
Heller notes that while water is critical for everyday health, it is especially necessary to support organ function and replenish hydration levels when the body is sick and losing fluids from sweating, diarrhea, and vomiting.
“Although many different fluids can offer help to the specific symptoms an individual is experiencing, one of the most important fluids to drink when sick is water,” he says.
